Reason why i believe the "enjoy the read" thread pasting the chatlogs are good

This is the dilemma : Strictly following the rules, when you post you want people to :

  • Help you understand what behavior got you punished.
  • Help you understand why you got the punishment you did.
  • Help you understand how the system works.
  • Help you find techniques that may help you avoid punishment in the future.
  • Help you determine whether or not a ban was possibly an error.
  • Help you understand why Riot has the policies it does.
  • Help you decide if you should contact Player Support about your case.
  • Hold reasonable discussion on the system, why it works the way it does, and how it could be improved.
  • Hold reasonable discussion on Riot's rules and how they could be improved, under the understanding that Riot is within their right to make rules if they so choose.

meaning that if you are posting, and you fit in none of these categories, your thread has NO reason to be here

HOWEVER, what is the PURPOSE of this very category ? helping people understand what is a good behavior in league and discussing around it.

That's why i do believe those thread should not be removed, as they give us clear ideas on what not to do, we can therefore hold more example and study thoses cases and MAYBE change our respective behavior accordingly.

yes** these threads achieve the "player behavior" category objective**,** just not on the person you'd expect.**

I really like to see what riot consider toxic as it helps me understand and define better what a good behavior is. and theses threads are a nice step toward that.

That is a fair take on those threads, and, I personally agree that they do have intrinsic value as study pieces at the very least, but, at the same time, I can't help but also see it from the Moderators' perspectives, of which I can see two issues;

  1. "Enjoy the read"-type threads tend to push the idea that behavioral infractions are something to derive entertainment from, essentially making light of people's accounts being punished. Sure, there are some people out there who find it entertaining/interesting to read those logs, but, posting for entertainment and posting for discussion are two different realms, and I'm certain we don't want to move from discussing punishments and policies to getting our daily dose of schadenfreude.

  2. "Enjoy the read"-type threads also typically lack any discussion value from the gate. When someone opens with "I already know why I was punished, just posting this so you guys can see it", that pretty much kills most of the ability to actually discuss the logs. Sure, there's the aforementioned intrinsic value of discussing the punishable behaviors, but when the OP explicitly states that they know what got them punished already, then there's no longer really a reason to discuss it.

Between the flippancy that those threads treat punishment with and the way they typically start off as non-discussions, it's really hard to justify allowing them even despite the value they have of showing how the IFS works.

It is the player who had got banned that are posting the chat logs, I don't feel it promotes negative or toxic behavior but rather shines a light on how not to behave but also gives people an idea of why they got banned in a comedic light. However, I agree with Umbrals post; that there are too many of these types of threads that the player is "Just posting so you can see it", rather than generating any real discussion typically leading to non-discussions.
