Do chat restrictions really work?

So after playing this game for going on 5 years I got my first punishment of a 10 game chat restriction. I was pretty angry about it, but after the short period of time I found myself reformed. I'm kinda shocked that it actually had some effect on my gameplay and has since made me much less toxic in games. I try to talk to my teammates instead of just raging and insulting them. Who would have ever thought that Rito was actually smart enough to fix my problem? I think it's even helped me win some more games too! So I guess thanks for treating me like the a@%hole that I was being and helping me get some more wins.

When you don't focus on arguing/bickering and focus on the game instead, it does wonders.

I know someone who has been restricted chat-wise like 2-3 times on different accounts on one of the EU servers. I tried to help them but they kinda like to snap back at people without thinking. So from my experience it doesn't really work for the snappy people. I think they just ended up quitting.

I think the reform number is in excess of 70% for each punishment tier (iirc the precise number is 73% but I could be wrong). So basically only about 1/4 of the people who get the short chat restriction continue to be toxic and get the long restriction, and then only 1/4 of those people continue again and are escalated to a 2 week ban, etc.

If chat restricts worked, they wouldn't have changed the old system to this new tier bs. Some people had 1000+ chat restrict games.

Nah, I've seen 0 change in my w/l ratio. I just type less or not at all now. Thanks riot - making me an even larger introvert. Can't even defend myself w/ text anymore.
