My Thoughts on Perma bans and 14-day bans

I have been permanently banned on 3 different accounts and just got a 14 day ban on my newest account, and all for the same reason. Being toxic. I get it that Riots trying to cleanup their playerbase but they are doing it the complete wrong way. I once called my Teemo jg in ranked a F###ing idiot for flashing onto my laner and giving them a free kill, And now I can never play a league game on that account ever again. All the time and money put into that account is all lost just because I said a bad word to someone in an online video game. There are much better solutions to toxicity than permanently banning their players. What the penalty should be instead of destroying thier account is a simple global chat filter for that toxic player. Anything this player says that is toxic is censored for not only him but the other players. This gets rid of toxicity and doesn't waste the time dedication and $ people put into their accounts.

You didn't receive a permanent ban just for that game, you were already punished multiple times and were warned that continued negativity would result in a permanent ban.

Whether you agree with the rules or not, you knew what would happen if you continued this behavior.

All the time and money put into that account is all lost just because I said a bad word to someone in an online video game.

Because you ignored multiple warnings and disregarded your myriad of punishments, not because you said one bad word once.

Also, it doesn't matter if it's a video game or IRL. We should treat other people with respect. Teemo made a mistake? Okay, tell him not to come to your lane anymore or say "that was a mistake, don't do that again." You don't have to insult him for it, that's not going to make him improve or want to play better.

Permanent chat bans have been proven multiple times to not work, Riot even said so themselves. Here's a board post talking about it.

Riot Wookiecookie:

"The observed behavior of those which were banned was that they used what little chat they had in game to harass and berate others. In other cases they decided to feed or play against their own team in order to "prove a point."

Ah yes, because filters block everything with 100% accuracy and there are 0 work arounds to by pass them.

Have you considered... not doing that? It's not like a permanent ban just appears out of thin air with zero warning or clue what would cause it. You should be well versed now that the poor behavior is causing you to get punished.

Why not hold your tongue instead of insulting people?

You did not get permanently banned for calling someone a "fucking idiot" once. You got permanently banned because you called someone a "fucking idiot" after multiple warnings and other instances of misbehavior.

Riot tried a global chat filter. An unacceptably high number of players with that punishment continued to be toxic in other, less easily detectable fashions.

The long and short of it is that if you are a player who is unwilling to change your behavior to fit the community rules, Riot doesn't want your time or your money. They want you to stop playing the game until such time as you are willing to abide by their rules. Your dedication to the game means nothing to them unless you are willing to actually abide by all the requirements they have laid out for someone to be a member of the community.

Your outline of your ban history suggests that you are exceptionally toxic. Either conform to conventions of sportsman-like gaming, or except to be banned again in the future. Not sorry.

This is a you problem. If you don't understand that it's a you problem, then you're going to keep losing accounts.

They tried that, or something similar anyway, it failed.
