Tyler1 Fans and Haters Read This (In response to The indefinite banning of Tyler1)

First things first, I think you should ban him for a set period of time maybe 1 month/3 months/1 year and at the end of the time ban, permanently chat restrict any account he plays on.

Now I'm not saying Tyler1 doesn't deserve punishment, BUT he was reforming. He wasn't as toxic as he used to be. Riot talks about how they want people to improve their behaviour. (Something Tyler was doing!) It looks really bad on Riot to ban someone who was working hard to improve themselves. REMINDER Tyler1 DOES deserve a ban.

Pros and Cons to Tyler1's permaban:

Pros:

  • 1 less toxic player in league
  • Riot Games (somewhat) gets a better reputation (not really...)

Cons:

  • 1 less person advertising League to THOUSANDS of people
  • Thousands of potential league players coming back to league/joining the community lost. Tyler1 honestly brought me back into playing league after quitting with dunkey. (probably brought back many more)
  • Tyler1 army trolling (I don't do this, but thousands of games are going to be ruined for who knows how long just because of his ban)

How should Riot of ACTUALLY dealt with Tyler1?

  1. Permanently muting Tyler1 from chat
  2. If step 1 fails to show promising results, than doing exactly what riot games did was the right thing to do.
  3. Instead of a permanent ban from playing League of Legends. Maybe just gives him a 365 day ban or something along those lines. (And I do mean a heavily enforced 365 day ban and not allowing him to use other accounts.)

Now who am I and where do my opinions come from?

  1. I am someone who has been trolled by tyler1 and hated him so much before I started watching his streams.
  2. I play support and jungle in diamond elo (not anymore, I quit league for almost a year before coming back)
  3. I was once in bronze and very toxic myself but I slowly reformed the way tyler1 was doing and I never received a permanent ban. I was banned for 2 weeks multiple times and chat restricted multiple times for MANY games.

In conclusion (tl;dr):

  1. Tyler1 deserves punishment
  2. The punishment could have been dealt with better. (perma-chat restriction/365 day ban)
  3. Riot Games SHOULD rethink their decision and give him a chance with perma-chat restriction.
  4. Riot should ban Meteos permanently. (and many more, Kaceytron, Nicktron, etc.)

You are missing the fact that his behaviour has warranted his permanent ban numerous times (If the random posts I've seen are to be believed, 19 times).

This person is beyond help, many of us dread even the possibility of being banned ONCE, this is clearly a member of the poisonous crowd Riot is trying to weed out, since they said the word "indefinite" it could be a case like that pro player, but for the time being, he's out.

My only gripe with this situation is that they took forever to start doing this, and I just hope they extend it to obvious troll players (see Kaceytron and co.) and not just a shoot at the sky to see what happened.

Seriously, 19 times (or whatever exact number it is).

  1. Chat isn't the only way that a player can intentionally negatively impact a match.
  2. Is tyler1's behavior something that Riot should allow simply because it's "free advertising"? It seems clear that he was associated with a negative behavior to the extent that the individuals who watched his stream were compelled to also create a negative experience for other players.
  3. His suspension isn't permanent; it's indefinite. This means that Riot can revisit the suspension at any time, similar to what they've done with other individuals in the past, and lift that suspension when they feel like tyler1 can be a more neutral/positive individual within the League of Legends Community.
  4. The account suspensions that tyler1 received were not manually placed, but rather the result of Instant Feedback. Instant Feedback is an objective way to deal with Player Behavior related issues within the game, and escalations can be done if Riot feels as though an individual is circumventing the Instant Feedback system. Should Instant Feedback lead to the suspension of Meteos and Kaceytron, then it's very unlikely that these accounts will be unsuspended simply because they're famous within the League of Legends Community. If they're consistently toxic and create multiple account-shared accounts to quickly create a negative environment for other players, then yes, Riot may take another look at indefinitely suspending these individuals as well. But for the time being, tyler1 is in a completely different league than any of the other individuals you mentioned.

I hope that clarified things.

19 PERMABANNED ACCOUNTS, there is no way he is "reforming" anytime soon...

lolno

He has not reformed at all. Him being gone is irrelevant. His followers and fanatical fanboys will rage, but they will still play anyways most likely. If they troll, they will also get banned soon enough.

So no.

IMO either lift the ban on him or ban all the other public streamers who promote this kind of crap.

I don't personally care either way but I think it's best for even if Riot shows some consistency.

  • I think you are vastly misunderstanding what banning Tyler1 does for the reputation for Riot. Actually taking a stand and saying this is not ok, you've had your chance to reform and we are putting the hammer down now, probably did a lot more good that what you're giving them credit for

  • At this point in time, LOL is the biggest MOBA in the world, creating exposure isn't really an issue. I often see posts about how "this playerbase is declining" when in actuality, the game has reached everyone that is willing to play it. It isn't dying, its just not growing as fast as it once was. So really advertising isn't an issue.

  • Tyler1 army will stop trolling after a week. After a week they'll get tired of doing it, or they'll actually start caring about their rank again.

  • The problem with Tyler1 is that he was toxic in more ways than just in chat. He would often buy multiple tears and just feed. There are two prime examples in the league of children vods and in the game with RobertxLee. Permamuting wouldn't fix those problems. He's had multiple chances and warnings, and he ignored them all

  • In all honesty, if Tyler wanted to play League, he could. He would not be able to stream it, but he could still do it. It's very easy to hide your IP address, and if you don't use the same credit card, there is no way to tell that one account is linked to Tyler. Effectively, all this ban did for him, was make him stop streaming League.

  • The main difference between you and Tyler, is that you actually tried to reform. Tyler did not.

SrbLud5/4/2016, 5:59:32 PM1 votes

Tyler1 said he deserved it and he knew it was coming. He also said that Riot was really nice to him considering what he did and that a lot of it is not publicaly known. He made peace with their decision.

I really don't care what you "Think" should happen to Tyler1, as your opinion plays no part in the decision making process.
