Bait banning is it real and how to deal with it?

Hi, I am IEATRAWPOTATOES and i know everyone gets tilted from time to time. League is a game with many different people whether they are good or bad. Some of the lesser know bad people that are part of this community try to bait you into getting a punishment. This is what bait banning is. Bait banning is trying to push someone's buttons to intentionally get a reaction that would be considered toxic in riot's eyes. Some of these people congregate in massive discord servers that are dedicated to finding and tilting people who they think are an "evil" to the league community and that it is their "duty" to fix the issue. What they do is they get a group of maybe 10 people and duo up. When they are in a match they check everyone's account looking for a losing streak or in a lower elo. They are way more inclined to try to tilt someone on their own team because it is easier to envoke a reaction. This is something that doesn't happen very often but when it does you can clearly tell. To tilt you they can say sarcastic remarks, pings, toxic, trash talk and sometimes it gets as bad to intentionally feeding. These people are usually playing on a smurf or a friend's account so they can avoid getting their main account punished. Some are not smurfing and are just doing it to envoke reactions

But how do you deal with them? There isn't much you can do about this except muting the player's pings and chat and not giving them attention they want. If they still find a way to tilt you I recommend putting on music that is calming and relaxing rather than music that would get you pumped up. If they are inting this is when you just have to ignore them and hope that you or your team plays well enough to win. There isn't much you can do against them when they decide to intentionally feed but you can always stay calm and relaxed and try your hardest to win. Remember these people love attention and will go through anything to get it. If you don't give them the attention they want they will most likely stop or will get punished.

Keep it positive out there summoners! -IEATRAWPOTATOES*[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]*

This is great content, thanks for this. I lost my cool in games trying to defend fellow summoners, and self defend as well, and ended up using up my warnings. I feel this post at my core right now. It is very hard to keep your cool at all times, we people are emotional creatures after all. I love the idea of using relaxing music to counteract the negative energy of the toxic players, didn't really consider that one too much. The mute options are easily your best friends in this game, and I've since been using them to my advantage.

The term "bait banning", you described it as "trying to push someone's buttons to get a toxic reaction". I like your term for it, but to me it just sounds like the equivalent of trolling, which is almost the exact same definition.

Anyways, great post, +1 internets.

Thanks! I've been listening to some ASMR during some of my gaming in recent months actually, wonder if it was a subconscious thing.
