Why do some people think flaming is actually ok?

Hello, I'll keep this as brief as possible.

First of all this isn't about muting people who flame, that goes without saying. This is just a rant about the mentality shown on the boards at times.

I see so many players on this board thinking that flaming is ok and you have to "suck it up". These people firmly believe you should hear them out when they say the worst they can think of (which often is horribly unoriginal too).

Personally, flame doesn't get to me and I don't get sad or angry for it. I usually mute people very fast if they start the blame game or just straight up insult, but it doesn't really make me feel bad... It makes me feel annoyed, it happens just so often that the whole process of muting single individuals (or multiple, if other people are from the same club as the flamer as I don't want to deal with another likely flamer) is an automatic action for me.

I don't think these players have the right to take the fun of meeting other interesting people in matches from me, so I refuse to /muteall from the start.

In conclusion: Why do they think like that? What brings them to think that not only flame is ok and should be done, but you should also withstand it? It doesn't make any sense, it doesn't prove one's toughness and it's just annoying, in my opinion.

tl;dr: If your experience with league is miserable, also through means of your own, it doesn't mean everyone else has to feel like you do.

Thanks, that's all.

When people blame you maybe try taking that criticism to heart. Flaming isn't okay, but what many people call flaming is just criticism. And many people are frustrated when they see people who feed or don't make the right macro plays on their team, while knowing they won't get punished for it. But if you call anyone out when they make mistakes or play like they're not even trying to win, you risk a chat restriction or worse.

Probably because up until fairly recently it was ok. People realized they were on the Internet and were not so easily offended/upset by what random people in online games said to them. That has really changed in the last 5 years or so, but people who have been playing online games for much longer than that are not going to easily change.
