Why muting a toxic player is important to winning

Okay so I was told I support toxicity because I said, "if there is a toxic player, mute them even if you're going to report them" or "someone saying something toxic to you isn't the end of the world". I wanted to give more detail to what I was talking about, I hope this helps someone

Okay, so I get toxic player a lot, I report them if I feel they really need it, I don't really go out of my way to bother with someone being sarcastic or passive aggressive. If someone say one harassing thing, I tend to let my team deal with it if they really feel like they need the report. If someone is really just harassing another player, I report them (I also report people for being racist, sexist, ect) . The people that REALLY harass people, people that say something and wont stop. These are the real problem playing to me, and why muting them is important.

Okay so say a toxic player (or the whole team) is harassing you. You need to just stop caring what they're saying. You're free to report them as you please at the end of the game, but getting upset and talking back to them isn't going to help anything. It's only going to hurt you.

The best example I can think of is a game I was playing as udyr top. I was losing my lane badly, and was getting flamed. I muted everyone that was flaming me and focused on the game, and I was one of the huge factors that won us the game. While my team was busy typing, I was getting towers. Soon, we were in there base. You never want to let someone upset you, you want to keep yourself calm. Because you can carry the game! You can still communicate with pings, and type if you need too. They will see it. But don't let it bother you.

This goes with the "someone saying something toxic to you isn't to the world". If you don't let what someone says bother you, you can carry! At most its four people out of millions of people playing the game, stay focused on the game. I honestly feel sorry for some of the people that take the game way too seriously. The people going around tell people to kill them selves. I find it silly to take things that far over a game.

Lastly, I know I'm not a saint. There have been times I've been toxic. I try my best to be a good teammate. That being said, I don't think anyone can say they have never been toxic. But just try to be the best player you can be, and don't let people get to you.

I agree. There is a reason there is a mute button. If someone is annoying you or harassing them instead of letting them tilt you just mute them.

Shame that you can't just turn chat off all together.

The problem, in my opinion, is if the toxic player realizes he has been muted, he gets even more tilted, and will start getting killed more, so its always a lose lose situation.

Muting someone doesn't prevent them from griefing.
