Toxic Community

The League of Legends banning system is perhaps the most flawed thing I've ever come across. I recently played a game where I was flamed harder than any other game I have ever played. I have been playing this game since season 4 and I have never come across some of the vulgar, disgusting, inhuman things that this player was saying all because of a bad game. Maybe it was just one bad game--IN PRESEASON MIND YOU--where I was trying out a new champion I had never played. Granted, I was not doing very well, 10/10 is not exactly the best k/da if that's how you measure success.

Anyway, a few other players on my team all asked the other players to report this Annie, <Removed by Moderation> , and he tells them that I should be reported? He LIES to them and says that I was "calling them the 'n' word." I reported <Removed by Moderation> and then he flames me more in post-game chat calling me a "racist" when I had said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on the topic of race.

Might I add here, in game he typed "your mother must be so disappointed in you that she drinks herself to sleep every night." What the FREAK kind of community is this? Who would say those kinds of things--true or not--about a video game. So what happens? I queue up for another game, extremely unsatisfied with how that game went and then I get a notification saying that I am receiving a 14-day ban. The banning system is trash. I ask the community to report a toxic as can be player and in return they report me and I get a 14 day ban.

I have had such a horrible experience playing League this past year. The community is getting more and more toxic. This needs to change or Riot will lose players. I am calling for justice to be served. There needs to be immediate punishment for <Removed by Moderation> AND for all the other toxic players out there. I am done playing League, I play to have fun but being belittled and slandered like this is unacceptable. I hope Riot fixes this. I will be sure to let friends and neighbors in the gaming community know that League of Legends is a toxic community and is not worth playing.

I'm curious how one guy acting like an ass-hat means the entire community is toxic? You yourself admitted that he was the worst you've ever seen in any other game, which should indicate that his behavior isn't the norm.

Also you wouldn't have received a 14 day suspension if you didn't do anything wrong. I'd suggest in the future simply muting the player and reporting them after the game is over. There's no reason to ask for reports or to say anything back to them.

Excuse me but I do not believe that you are as innocent as you claim to be.

Unless you provide us the chatlogs of your ban I won't believe a word you wrote.

Chatlogs or it didn't happen.

I haven't seen your chat log, but I'll try to help anyway (from a presumption of innocence).

Did you happen to repeat anything this player had said to you? For example, if that player said in all chat, "OOgoathamren called me a booger", did you in turn type "No, i never called him a booger"?

If so, it's possible your 2-week ban was the result of a zero-tolerance phrase being typed. Especially if you've had no previous punishments.

Presuming you're innocent, I'd recommend submitting a support ticket to see about getting the penalty reversed.

If, on the other hand, you responded with flaming, badmouthing, name calling, report calling, etc on your own, and especially if you've had previous sanctions/punishments against your account, it's entirely possible that you advanced a punishment tier and ended up with a 14 day suspension. Remember, that there's no need to 'defend' yourself in the chat/allchat or even to request reports against another player. Multiple reports have the same weight as a single report (from you), so the best thing to do is to mute the offending player (thus removing their toxic chat from your view) and then reporting them after the game.

Just my take. I hope it was all a mistake and you get your suspension lifted. If the punishment was warranted and this is a valid 2 week suspension, be very careful going forward, because even the slightest hint of negativity or toxicity could result in a permaban. I've been playing since season 3 and I'd hate to lose my account. I'm sure you feel the same way.

Not sure how we missed this one, but naming another player in a thread (especially to call them out as toxic) is a violation of the Name and Shame part of the Board Universal Rules. I've gone ahead and edited out the name from your content. I also spaced out your paragraphs a bit more so it doesn't appear to be a wall of text and is easier for the majority to read.

If you have any questions about this edit or our rules regarding Name and Shame, don't hesitate to reach out to the Boards Moderation Team via:
