Would I be allowed to do this?

My friend recently started playing and wants to try out champions, so would I be banned if I let my friend use my account to try champs out in private/custom games against bots?

It's fine if he comes over and plays on your computer. Riot won't be able to detect that.

Don't give your pw and let him play on his computer though.

It's pretty iffy. I would say no and don't risk it. When getting permabanned is on the line, I really wouldn't mess around. We'd probably need DTN, another arbiter(Wait there are other arbiters?), or a mod to clarify just to be sure.

One thing right away: Doing this is against ToS and generally lowers your account security, so I can obviously not recommend it.

Buuuuuut, if you are willing to put some trust in unsubstantiated claims by somebody on the forum: In some older threads (very old, we're talking years) Riot has been very straight forward about not banning people for account sharing unless it's used to cheat, or it is sold, or any other kind of problem arises from that act of sharing. So yeah, technically the rule of no account sharing wouldn't be enforced just because your friend tried out a few champions.

However, outside of boosting or straightup selling your account, there are problems that you might not actually be able to defend against: Now, firstly, your friend could just claim it's his account and try to "recover" it from your attempt to "steal" it. If you then try to re-recover it, however, you are risking Riot realizing they cannot properly determine who the original owner is, and simply locking up the account permanently for ToS violation.

But the really big issue is that the moment you give away your password, you are throwing away the most crucial part of account security. At this point Riot can't really determine whether a hacker stole your account, or whether somebody you gave your password to logged in. Now, this can obviously result in the aformentioned case, where a hacker might try to "recover" your account, though that doesn't happen that often. The more likely case is that such a hacker might then do other bannable things on your account. They could try to scam people, or phish for more player's account details or they could simply be using hacks and scripts. And because you didn't maintain proper account security, Riot will hold your account responsible for any actions taken on it. Which means that any punishment that this hacker brings upon your account (typically that will be a permaban) will not be lifted.

So yeah... Riot is very unlikely to ban you for letting your friend try out a champion. But be aware you are possibly throwing away the chance to recover your account in case you get hacked or your friend... well... stops being your friend.
