Score = validity of opinion

Just got out of a game. I admit I was kinda terrible that match, and things were said. I'd like to think I was being perfectly reasonable in chat. A certain Ekko was not too happy with my performance... or the performance of 2 other team mates (the jungler had a good score that match too).

He complained in all chat, as is common for this sorta community. Their team started to agree with him. I pointed out that a game is no reason to be a jerk (probably the harshest word I used the whole match). Ekko said something along the lines of "how bronzies always complain when you tell them they suck," (he was silver 5 so I can see how far out of my league he is >.>...) the enemy team nodded and agreed again. I point out that it's no excuse for his toxicity, point out that the other player with a good score isn't lashing out at the rest of the team, the process continues.

Is this game to the point where my opinions weight hinges on how good I'm doing in the game? He was being a grade A jerk but because he had a good k/d/a he was excused from being called on it? If I walked around in real life with my net worth displayed above my head would it not matter if I saw a millionaire doing something wrong and I called them on it? Would all the other people around me tell me to stop because I was poor? I don't think so, so why can't we apply the same concept here?

I mean the other possibility is that I just consistently get matched up with jerks in game.

Jerks and idiots who think alike will agree with jerks and idiots. More than likely those who were on the other team either didn't care or would have done the same thing. Either way it's better to just mute them if they're tilting you (I assume it was frustrating to see). The enemy team also could've been attempting to create infighting between teammates to make the game easier by agreeing with him, so the more you pushed against him, the more gas you were pouring onto the fire (granted you didn't pour as much as they would've liked, but you and the Ekko tilted nonetheless).

Yeah, there's a large skill difference between Bronze 5 and Silver 5. It's probably the largest skill difference in the game. Bronze 4-5 is ONLY for absolutely new players, and every other division is a mix of new players and experienced players.

I always get angry at silvers and bronzes... mostly because they talk stupid shit during the game thinking they know better.

I think it is mostly that there are a lot of jerks.

Not really, no, but there are some people out there sadly who think that a high rank=a free pass on being a jerk when it doesn't.

He was being a grade A jerk but because he had a good k/d/a he was excused from being called on it?

There is never an excuse to be a jerk to someone in-game. We were all new once and we will always have bad games and days as well also. Just report them and eventually they will be punished for their poor behavior if they consistently show it across multiple games.

If I walked around in real life with my net worth displayed above my head would it not matter if I saw a millionaire doing something wrong and I called them on it?

It would matter, but real life is different from in-game. If you wouldn't do it irl then you shouldn't do it in-game. Someone else can delve deeper onto this question than I can though.

Would all the other people around me tell me to stop because I was poor? I don't think so, so why can't we apply the same concept here?

If the question that you're asking is what I think it is, then there's a rather simple answer to it really, and it's because that retaliation is never okay in this game. If someone being a jerk wouldn't stop the first time you asked then they're sure as heck not gonna stop the third and fourth times that you ask. In those situations is best to just mute and report them after the game and left the behavioral systems decide their fate.
