So how is this fair?

I get put into a game with a duo that afks all game then comes back and are toxic. Mute them in game.

After game: report, explain report and block

Next game: Same duo on my team again, afks again. Probably will receive no punishment.

Why does riot throw you right back into a game with the same afkers when you block them and report them

There are literally THOUSANDS of other players, and you put me right back with two people who Ive blocked and reported. FIx this crap.

Probably will receive no punishment.

If they were AFKing/toxic, and that pattern continues to perpetuate itself, they will almost certainly receive punishment.

I expect the main reason is that there isn't really an easy solution. That being said, waiting a few minutes after a game with trolls is usually enough to avoid them in your next game. I know it's more of a workaround than a stable solution, but it does work for the most part.

The issue with this approach is that, in certain edge cases, changing matchmaking based on reports/blocks can imbalance games. This is especially true in sub-30 games and extremely high ELO (Master & Challenger), where blocking five people could potentially mess with the accuracy of matchmaking.

Currently the best solution would be to to mute, report, and then wait a bit before queuing up again.

That waiting will also help you b/c after having a frustrating game, you will yourself cool down a bit and at the same time, you can ensure not matching up w/ the same scrubs again.

Blocking doesn't make it so you can't be queued with them again.

So that duo is obviously around the same MMR as you (which is why you got matched up in the first place) and since you both queued up at the same time after your match you both were waiting the same amount of time to get matched for your second game.

The whole system is designed around minimizing wait time and matching up people in the same MMR range. So it makes perfect sense that if you queue up at the same time as that toxic duo you have a much higher chance at getting matched with them again. This is a problem in every competitive game, not just League. In fact, people use this in tons of competitive games to "stream snipe" pros and other high level streamers by queuing up at the same time as them.

So what's the solution? Wait 2-3 minutes before queuing up again. Not only does this allow you to calm down a bit after a rough game and not go on tilt but it also pretty much eliminates any chance you'll get paired up with them again.
