Theory about the toxic community

I have a question for all the players who are currently playing. what was the last game you played before starting League for the very first time. cause I am fairly certain League ain't the only game with a toxic ass community. so if am correct, their toxic came from the last game that was played. so I ask, what was the last game you played before getting onto the League train?

Oh man. I barely even know. Probably Left 4 Dead 2 and Team Fortress 2?

It definently isn't. A lot of games that are competitive in nature and online will have a toxic community.

I don't really remember the last game i played before league.

That's... not reasonable. The toxicity in League comes from the nature of the game. Since it's a team game where the performance of people other than yourself has a massive impact, even compared to other team games, it feels far worse when you lose and think it's not your fault.

That's a one-sentence version of it, but it's the most sound explanation.

Ragnarok online.

MMORPGs really don't have the same competitive nature as LoL, as it is mainly PvE based. But people still rage.

zomg, the mob is on me, heal me. Heal Me. I SAID HEAL ME NAO BITCH!! Fk you, now I died and lost 1% exp.

I've seen couples break up cos of that.

I'm 35 now. Pretty old for this game.

Anyway, I'm not toxic at all. My brothers are though. Just with this game. When they play Rainbow Six: Siege, they are fine mostly. 7 years later and a few perm bans they don't really play anymore. They are happier in other games. Siege, Legends of Aria is their newest thing. They do COD like everyone else.. some PUBG and Fortnite here and there.

I was the worlds worst at PUBG, but a decent Siege player. Holding angles, pushing the objective, flying through windows, it makes sense.

The toxicity comes from the helplessness people have when it comes to matchmaking; in cod a guy declares to throw you leave the lobby, in lol the same happens and you’re stuck with em. Also came from overwatch to this in October 2017 to find that OW didn’t, in fact, have the most toxic community I’d ever seen.

Awesomenauts! My side scrolling platformer introduction to MOBAs. People were toxic there too, just there were no rules against it so everyone didnt focus on it and talk about it so much. I feel like just the fact that there is this subforum (pb) and rules against toxicity, causes us to disproportionally judge the toxicity in this game. If I never used the forums, I wouldnt even know that this game is so toxic, because here, everyone exaggerates and tells stories about it. The focus on toxicity is more than the toxicity itself, in my experience.

the gaming community in general is toxic, its not from any specific game.

I'm going to be pretty honest. While League was not the first game to have a toxic community it is the first game to have the most atrocious vocal player base that actually echoed into other games and have since created a toxic domino community throughout all games. I'd say streaming has probably also aided in this but I remember coming from a smaller mmo and looking at the boards and thinking wow these people are pathetic and here I am years later and now actually playing the game and still thinking the same thing. You can honestly tell the majority of the player base at least now has never played a sport because they honestly get mad for trying to keep it sportsmanlike. The way they troll and grief and flame you for correcting them or trying to be polite but also like hey you kinda messed up here, is disgusting. The silent acceptance of racism. The way they so freely tell you to kill yourself or validate calling people F**ots is disgusting. The complete acceptance to being constantly bullied by their teammates? Embarrassing. The sexism?????? Keeping in mind that all of these people are just as likely to be grown men as they are children and you literally can't tell because of how ugly and childish their personality is. That the company ALLOWED this to foster? This is all league.
