Overall suspension / ban viability and effectiveness, and general thoughts on leaving LoL
I wasn't going to come into the forums and cry / whine about a 14-day suspension I had - but I think for the historical-search-engine record, the 100-percent faulty, crap-infested banning algorithms need to be discussed and addressed for what they are as often as possible. Hoping I can have a productive conversation about this (high hopes?).
I like this game a lot - enough to actually spend money on it. Too much cash probably. The game itself - I find it good. I don't bitch and moan about Trynd and Yas too strong plz nerf. I get it, I'm not a diamond player, and that's fine. The company and the policies around the game are another story entirely. Treating customers and more importantly players the way the system does is downright unethical, and I may be at my breaking point (as I'm sure many are). Mentally I want to move on because this game makes me so miserable and exhausted (players and policies), but I wasn't sure why I couldn't do it. More on that later.
Background: I've played for several years - I had a permabanned account sometime ago on which I was a super dickhead a couple times and ate a 14-day ban for the first offenses. It was still pretty hard to keep my mouth entirely shut after that, and it ultimately ended in permaban. Fine. I learned my lesson and came back a few years later wanting to play again.
On this new account, I generally refrained from flaming feeders, players making massive mistakes, general trolling, etc. because it seems there is a hyper volatility in losing your account. On this new account I had a few instances letting my temper get the better of me arguing back with people who attack me, calling me trash or worse. Fine, policies say don't do it, and bans don't care who started it (pathetic policy). Another few instances of me asking why file in the blank lane is 0/10 at 15 minutes. Nope, can't do it - get chat-restricted. On that: specifically and following my ban, customer support regarding this suspension said I have too much history of blaming people. The fuck? Very often people lie blame on others, and get this - sometimes it's founded and accurate. Furthermore it's life, and telling someone who made a mistake that they made a mistake is pretty normal - it's called accountability. BTW I'm not in game calling people shit players, I'm just passive aggressively asking 'why the eff is Zed so fed...' Anyway, after a 25-game chat restriction, a single-game chat log put me into 14-day suspension status. No profanities, no name-calling, etc., etc. My terrible and term-violating behavior was when I spent most of what I deemed post-winnable game in fountain asking team to /ff so I don't have to play ANOTHER 55 minute game. It's my time too. I should have a say whether or not I want to waste that much more time without risking my account. BTW games that long do not make for promotable seasons. This apparently abhorrent behavior is not tolerated, and here I am.
The truth is I wasn't unreasonable, and I didn't violate anything reasonable. Children and the childish who lose their ranked games lash out at others, and when done in a mob breeds more reports. When reasonable players are permabanned, you can bet that's the root cause. I'm not talking about massive flaming, argumentative nonsense happening in game. I'm talking about reasonable players who main support and get tired of bad matchmaking and want to play a new game, or junglers who can't save three failing lanes and want to move on.
It's a numbers game, and it's unrealistic - it's been said a million times, but somehow Riot still disagrees: text chat is ban bait, and duos and other high school tards will gang up on you in-game hurling reports with the intentions of trolling you and destroying your account - and they get off on it. We all know it isn't the case every game, but it's enough to fuck over decent players, and it has tainted the reputation of this game on a massive scale. I would say that consensus about the game is VERY accurate.
My moment of epiphany where I ask, 'what the hell is really up with this community and ban system?' came when I played on a new account today 4/23/2019 and was pushed into top lane from support which I called during a blind game. I went 4/3/something on Karma vs Trynd. I post-game asked our team to report the support Morg who stole my position, fed, did not ward once (truly had vision score 0 at 22 minutes), etc. I was greeted with very much friendly banters from the other team's Trynd, with this example snippet here.
If somehow my behavior pasted below is worse than that, god help us. Who made that the measuring stick? That is where my true confusion sits. Sure I didn't do this below once or twice, I actually behaved this way a few times. Does it really violate rules? When people waste your time, insult you, troll, etc., what are you supposed to do? Shut up and just report? Without my mob of pimple-laden juniors at my side, how will I post effective reports to ban others?
Game 1 Pre-Game 5eapea: k In-Game 5eapea: is ok 5eapea: gg 5eapea: thatsa gg 5eapea: more importantly 1/4 5eapea: what do you think i did? 5eapea: are you trolling me? 5eapea: bronze is so miserable 5eapea: i will mute you bro 5eapea: im not diving draven 5eapea: unless i know its safe 5eapea: i have no river vision 5eapea: i am not goign in 5eapea: qss if you cant dodge 5eapea: damn 5eapea: not if you ping once 5eapea: utterly useless 5eapea: to ping one time 5eapea: might as well do nothing 5eapea: yeh sure 5eapea: lmao 5eapea: veig 5eapea: 0/1 doing noth9ing 5eapea: calling us out for....what exactly? 5eapea: more than you im 1/1 5eapea: map awareness veigar help bot 5eapea: wow 5eapea: no votes for yes 5eapea: gg 5eapea: please end 5eapea: sigh 5eapea: blitz must murder you hard 5eapea: you haven't dodged once. rofl. 5eapea: lol k 5eapea: im not playing with you for an hour just to lose 5eapea: i want to move on 5eapea: report udyr 5eapea: aggressive, flaming, etc 5eapea: if you wanna lose lane this hard or practice veigar 5eapea: play normals 5eapea: i want to win games 5eapea: and this is over 5eapea: not like you did mate 5eapea: most of it was after laning phase 5eapea: fizz 7/3 5eapea: doing great mid lane 5eapea: you wanna sit around and play this blame game it sfine 5eapea: i want this over 5eapea: gg Post-Game 5eapea: Not afk 5eapea: I just know lost games 5eapea: Report udyr 5eapea: for tryign to get everyone to report some nonsense 5eapea: its violating summoners code btw 5eapea: no 5eapea: they didnt. lol 5eapea: one person aggreed with you 5eapea: that is not 'all team'
Summary on acceptable behavior: you can't hold anyone accountable, you can't ask to ff, you can't ask to report, or your account is toast. Also no leaving games or you guessed it - adios.
Back to 'well, why are you still here then?' Simply - It took time to learn this game, and it's fun! If everything just translated over to the world of DOTA 2 or something else, I would be gone in seconds. And if that were true, I think Riot would see a mass exodus, and I really wish it would happen. Maybe they would fix some of the problems. The time put in to the game still makes you want to use the knowledge and win, but I think players like me who deal with much more shit then they give ought to just grind it out and learn something new. It's probably worth it.
