How does Rito encourage soft inting?

Hello everyone,

start preparing the downvote buttons and reports for this post ;)

So as we all know, the punishments for soft inting are rare and slow, if those ever happen. We also know that when people are not allowed to flame (aka chat ban), they tend to grief in gameplay like soft inting (Do not argue with this part Rito claimed this, this is the reason why perma mutes are not a thing, i do not believe them, but 99% of the PB Boards worship Rito like a god, so i assume they do).

Now if we assume, that the flamers are not totally brainead, which is i think a pretty good assumption, we can find out what will happen.

Let's say there is person A, who knows that writing a simple "keep yourself safe" will get you at least 2 weeks banned. Well, he does not really want it, so he will not write this, which means he is essentially muted from flaming (just like a permamute would do it). From Rito we know, that this person will start trolling, since it is clear for everyone that trolling rarely gets you punished, but he still wants to ruin the game for his teammates.

So thanks to the glorious punishment system, Rito very efficiently converted the chat-related toxicity into gameplay related one, which is far worse in my opinion. Which causes even more chat related toxicity which causes even more gameplay related and so on...

Much of the poor behavior in the game comes from people who simply have poor impulse control and/or is extremely tilted, not from people who enter the game with malicious intent.

Such players generally don't have the presence of mind to direct their anger towards a more difficult, harder to detect form of harassment. They started playing the game to win after-all, so causing their own loss is counterproductive to that. In their mind their anger is justified, so thinking about ways to avoid punishment is not going to be top on their list. If they start throwing games in anger, one would think they would start wondering why they're playing the game in the first place if all they're doing is intentionally causing their own losses.

This all changes when they are unable to vent in chat. Now the only option is through gameplay related means if they wanted to show their dislike towards another player.

Well, he does not really want it, so he will not write this, which means he is essentially muted from flaming (just like a permamute would do it).

This is the central fallacy of your argument. Everything else is ultimately a conclusion from this assumption. "Essentially a mute" is vague enough to not be incorrect, but what you describe certainly is not "just like a permamute".

Self control by definition overrides your own impulses, outside control only prevents you from following your impulses.

Therefore if self control fails and there is no outside control, that person would default to whatever they wanted to do in the first place, i.e. flame. Whereas if there is only outside control, that person will try to find alternative ways to circumvent that control, which includes soft inting.

I feel like Riot's systems are essentially encouraging players to int/troll.

Making the IFS strict, as well as the gameplay detection system being poor, players are basically inclined to int/troll since the IFS won't allow them to flame instead to express frustration, and the gameplay detection system is unable to detect when they int/troll, so they have free rein to do so

What we need is a /vent command.

We then need a command that tells people to chill out and that bad players exist in game and they make bad decisions and they are not necessarily trolling or soft inting.
