insert body here lul. for real pls vote on the poll its just for my own curiosity nothing more.

would you rather see the message that someone you reported like 50-100% of the time a report of yours got someone banned or like 5% of the time like it is right now? or at least thats what it feels like.

man id love to have the option to say "hey every report i did within the last XX amount of hours, show me if it lead to a ban. I WANT TO FEEL LIKE MY REPORTS DO ANYTHING!" it feels like my reports are fucking useless.

Eh, my vote is actually "I don't care".

I don't care about notifications. If I reported someone, it is because I feel they violated rules.

Regardless people will either trust the system is working or it isn't. Doesn't matter how often the notifications come.

Before I start, lemme say that I'm not going to vote on the poll, partially because it's based on a misconception and partially because I honestly don't care how frequently I get the Instant Feedback Report.

Now, with that out of the way, let me point this out;

would you rather see the message that someone you reported like 50-100% of the time a report of yours got someone banned or like 5% of the time like it is right now? or at least thats what it feels like.

So far as I know (judging off of official statements regarding the IFR as well as my own understanding of the system), the Instant Feedback Report doesn't have a % chance to send - it's guaranteed to be sent if a player is punished.

The supposed unreliability of the IFR is a case of "Boards Wisdom" where the low frequency of seeing it had to have some explanation, and that explanation was "well it doesn't always show up to avoid witch-hunting/because it's meant to be an occasional reminder" - and, admittedly, I did spread a bit of this boards wisdom myself for a while.

The actuality of it, though, is that the IFR is guaranteed to send if a player you reported was given a mainline punishment recently due to your report.

So if a player breaks the rules, you report them, and that report winds up being the metaphorical straw that broke the camel's back and results in the player getting punished, you will receive an IFR. This applies to everyone who reported the player in the match that resulted in their chat restriction or account suspension.

How_ever_, it is possible for your report to be validated without resulting in a punishment; since the IFS punishes based off of consistency x severity, someone committing a more low-key offense may not get outright punished for a match you report them in, and due to that, you won't receive the IFR - even if your report is valid.

man id love to have the option to say "hey every report i did within the last XX amount of hours, show me if it lead to a ban. I WANT TO FEEL LIKE MY REPORTS DO ANYTHING!"

I don't think that'd be wholly beneficial, much less achieve the intended result of helping you feel like your reports matter.

  • You only ask for which reports led to a ban, not chat restrictions.
  • Being able to select a timeframe to check for report validity could lead to harassment cases.
  • What if your report is still processing (due to being, for example, manually reviewed, or taking a while due to being an intentional feeding/trolling case)?

These are just a few outstanding issues I could think of, but nevertheless they're still valid concerns.

I'm fine with it as is. If my report isn't the one that breaks the camel's back, then that just means the player I reported may have been one of those rare occurences. While I have shown incredible restraint when tilted, not everyone is like me.

If I get a notification, then that means I caught a habitually toxic player. If I don't get one, that player may have just had a really bad day and let it slip out. I'm okay with not getting a notification at all. We have enough things to worry about and getting that notification won't really do anything for you except maybe stroke an ego that doesn't need to be stroked.

A bit higher would be nice, sure.

However, what you are asking isn’t feasible. The reason the notification is rare is to disguise what exactly the system uses to determine punishment (well, aside from the zero tolerance things we already know).

I'd prefer quarterly reports. I don't care about 'who' gets reported, but it would be nice to know how accurate our reporting is. Something like the following:

Quarterly Behavior Report

Hello, FATHERDARIUS. This is your quarterly report for Q1 of Season 10.

Last quarter you reported: 20 players Number of played games: **218 ** Number of Players you reported who were sanctioned for toxic behavior: **15 ** Number of Players you reported this quarter who received permanent bans: 2 Number of players who re-offended after receiving a sanction: 3

You have a correct reporting rate of: 75%.

Other players reported YOU in: 10 of your games Number of sanctions YOU received: 1 Type of sanction(s) received: 10 game chat ban Players reported you correctly in 10% of your games.

Permanent bans listed wouldn't necessarily be as a result of your report. They might have only got a 10 game chat ban. But, if they subsequently were toxic in other games in the same quarter, it would show up in your card.

Just my thoughts.

I'd like it to be consistent and inaccurate rather than inconsistent and accurate. Right now I don't even bother reporting players because I know for a fact I won't get a message telling me my report meant anything. Because of the lack of notification and thus lack of punishment I feel like reporting is just a waste of time.

My preferred option was not there. Either 0% or 100%.
