Flaws in the Punishments

i just wanted to point out that there are flaws to the punishment policy. I have friends that have gotten penalized and complain about it and yes there are parts where I do agree with Riot's standard procedure and reasoning and there are parts where my friends reasonings do make sense. Now I am not the type to complain about Riot's policies as I understand the reasoning behind it and where they are stemming from especially when it comes to issuing out punishments. For example, the experiment to see if those who have been permabanned could reform and be a friendly player. 99% of the players failed to be not toxic and hence shaped the policies you guys have which is completely understandable. I know Riot doesn't have the time to go through case by case scenario for individuals when it comes to the punishments as it is too time consuming and some might see it as unfair and so from the experiments, policies were established based on the statistics to make things simple. I just wanted to point out the rare 1% of the players who actually managed to be sportsmanlike and improve has it worse and are treated unfairly by Riot. That just because of one slip up they are treated as bad as players who are unsportsmanlike for many seasons and games due to being issued the same harsh punishments.

I think many people, myself included see this as unjust. Yes, it doesn't excuse the fact that they DID get toxic in one game and they took the effort to write and be toxic. But I am saying that they are issued the harshest punishment that unsportsman like players (who have been toxic for more than one game) get. Basically a person who makes a mistake even though they have been honorable for last season and this season are treated like criminals when they don't deserve to. I just think that before issuing a harsh punishment of dropping honor level to 1 instantly, more of dropping to 2 to show the severity but not unfairly just as it gives enough warning and those who continue to be toxic for the next game gets dropped down to 1 with the honor being locked. So this allows those who are good community players who slips up -as we're human and no human is perfect - to understand the severity of the things they say and serves as a noticeable warning. This could be for those who slips up the first time and if they do it again, they immediately get to honor level 1 locked. I also feel that Riot doesn't take a look at players who gets issued punishment on their honor performance throughout the season and past season(s). For example, I was honor level 5, gets honored in game last season as well as this season and because of one game I get the harshest penalization even though I have been doing well and was my very first offense. There are many players who have gone through the same thing and I 100% guarantee they feel the same way. There are players who would try to justify for saying the things they did and try to get their punishment repealed, and I am no such player. I admit myself that the things I said that one game actually in fact shocks me with how toxic and harsh the things i said were. Although I think the punishment itself with the way it was issued was unfair and had flaws, I accept my punishment as it is and am willing to accept the punishment of getting no Victorious skin, icon or border. But as a player who has been consistently honored, hit level 5 last season and this season and like to have friendly banters, joke around and socialize through the chats, having to get treated as a player who's been consistently toxic in the community feels very unjust and in fact does not do the community and its players justice.

My problem with the honor and punishment system is that the system does not take a look at the player's current standing in honor and past standing in honor levels, giving rather way too harsh punishments for those who are first time offenders like myself, and that Riot lacks in warnings before issuing these punishments as humans are forgetful beings.

I'm not sure if Riot plans to discuss and review the policies for the upcoming season when it comes to punishments or take this to heart but I thought it was definitely something that I had to put out there for Riot to know. I know Riot receives many complaints from players on the unfairness of the punishments even though most of the time I do agree Riot's reasonings for it, I felt that light needed to be shed on the flaws of the system itself as a player and person that has common sense and reasonable logic (except for that one slip up, yikes! But we're all human, humans are bound to make mistakes)

That's my take on the problems Riot has with issuing punishments, what are your opinions on it?

Riot knows that a slap on the wrist is good enough to reform most people for a long time.

Riot has increased the severity of punishments over time.

I believe this is an attempt to deter you from mistakes. I believe it's also not working. Riots own data says it's not working. Only Riot knows why they continue down this path.

See, dropping a person's honor level is something they've done. I was hit once, maybe two times last year, dropping from 5 to 4 because of a handful of bad games. I essentially reformed, and stuck to it since. Then, this entire year, i've gone unpunished, managing to keep honor level 5 since August. Then, after a couple of bad matches this month (apparently?) I got instantly dropped from 5 to 1, locked, and chat restricted. Before, I used to get warnings saying "You've been reported, so you're chat restricted." I got these a couple times over the course of a year. This year, I saw nothing, No warnings, no restrictions, absolutely nothing then just out of the blue earlier this week, I got smacked with this.

You aren't going to find much sympathy here. The fact is that if anything the punishments aren't harsh enough. That's why the current community is considered extremely toxic. If you're getting punished you have to be CONSISTENTLY toxic. I know people who have intentionally tried to get punished on alternative accounts to see just how bad the system is and its pretty bad. So if you or a friend is getting punished. You deserve it. Unless you're like the .000001% of population that was wrongly punished.
