Banning own teammates champ should sometimes be punishable

I get it, when someone wants morde or trashuo but they are last place so it is highly unlikely, so in order to protect team some self-absorded guy bans that champ. But in my experience, it is never about that. I have found it that people atleast in EUNE really often ban the champ of their midlaner, simply out of spite because they didn't get the lane. I noticed this quite a few times in the last weeks, for example when playing Xerath. Xerath is not the most popular champ, but my support banned him. And then later someone banned my Lux, after asking that can he get the lane ( I was the first in line to choose too)... Atleast make it so that these players get a punishment of some sort, maybe on their honor level for doing something like this, since it definitely is inting and trolling should it happen for the before mentioned douchebag reasons.

EDIT: I have come to realize most people on the board are jackasses and ban their teammate's hovered champs, and some of you wonder why LOL has the most hated playerbase in the world.

If you can prove that the intent was to troll, then submit a ticket and he will get punished.

The problem is that it's almost impossible to prove. Just because he banned your hover after asking for the lane is not proof. (Probably true but not proof)

There already were people punished for such behavior.

Anyone, including yourself, can ban any champion for any reason they want.

This is not punishable. Never has been, never will be. It's the way draft pick is set up. If you want to play Xerath, and I fucking goddamn hate Xerath, I'm going to ban Xerath too. I don't care how good you are or that you hovered him.

If you are able to prove that a play was doing it with malicious intent then that is a bannable offense and you should put a ticket in, its likely though that in previous games that person was against a really good player using that character and regardless if you are hovered or not they will ban it on the off chance that they get matched against them again. Its very common to do that kind of thing. The only proof you can have is from pre-game chat where they something like "okay well have fun playing teemo now lol" and then proceeds to ban teemo. You have to understand that each player has different experiences in-game and you shouldn't be quick to judge why a player does something without asking or at least trying to understand and play around his decision. Also, banning his hovered champ as retaliation will get you banned. So do not do that!

The most memorable incident for me was a guy who banned my pick (I'm 90% sure he was autofilled and wanted to force a trade). I rolled my eyes and picked someone else. A third party dodged and I ended up on the same team as that guy again. So, to test if it was Teemo hatred or not, I hovered my second pick. He banned that champion and someone else banned my first pick from the previous lobby (don't if they were duo or normal Teemo hate)

Unfortunately, there was another dodged and I didn't see him again or I would have just kept picking different champions until he gave up or raged himself into a report.

If someone bans a person I already have selected, I ban their champ too to make it even then move on.

I understand this feeling completely, .. However, as someone else said, it is difficult to prove.

If someone wants to play something that is particularly difficult to play against, and the chances of that character being picked before you are going to be able to take them in the draft order, there is a good argument for someone on your team to ban them despite you having declared that you want that champion.

I had a situation where I was wanting to play Shen in the jungle, just for fun (This was a normal draft), and during champion select I had him declared. There was little danger of Shen being picked as he wasn't particularly strong / popular in the meta at the time, and I believe I was the second to pick so there was no reason to assume he would be contested with a first pick from the enemy team. One of our teammates just decided that he just wasn't having it though, and banned him, seeing that I had him hovered. He even said in chat, just before banning, "You're not playing Shen Jungle." It seemed pretty targeted, and unnecessary. Shen isn't a great jungler, but he also isn't bad at all (in fact, this is sort of making me want to try it again), so this person just wanted to grief me. I did report them at the end of the match, despite us winning (people often forgive things if they end up winning). I have no idea what came from it. Probably nothing. I don't particularly CARE about it anymore, aside from relating to how it made me feel at the time.

Ultimately though, people ARE free to ban whoever they want for whatever reason they want. This definitely falls within the lines of "being a jerk" and, while not an official policy, Riot does frown upon this in the summoner's code. With sufficient evidence to show a history of this behavior, that person MAY receive punishment, but it's best to just try to not let it bother you too much and move on.
