Toxicity is a serious issue.

I queue up ready to play LEAGUE OF LEGENDS and end up watching my team flame each other in the chat for 25 minutes. The game has become less about playing, micro/macro, mechanics, etc. to the deciding factor becoming which team is not flaming each other. (at least in my garbage elo) Some possible factors:

  • High Gold / Plat Elo (Heard its the most toxic)
  • The beginning of the season
  • League harbors toxicity (not fond of this one but remains possible)

What makes it worse is that you can not calm a team of angry summoners down through short messages and positivity. Losing games because your team is clouded with rage is much worse than losing because your skill is lacking. I put a decent amount of time and effort in to enjoying a game (yes ranked is enjoyable) and just pretending I'm pro giving it my all, but its disheartening to see players acting like this game after game with seemingly no end.

I'm not taking any issue with Riot or league itself but, if you encounter negativity in your games approach with kindness and reassurance or don't say anything at all, we can do better to make the game a better place, and climbing easier. peace.summoner 13

Toxicity happens thanks to trash game balance because people are no longer allowed to have fun.

Toxicity aka flammers is basically "angel behaviour" compared to inters and griefing afk'ers

If you don't like what someone is saying, put them on mute. If teamates are raging, tell them to put each other on mute and play the game.

People already get banned enough for calling people names while people that literally ruin games and run it down mid go unbanned.

Humans naturally are very self-centered and selfish creatures, and inconsiderate of other peoples' feelings. Just look at this Milgram experiment. You just need to keep in mind that these people are not really terrible people, they're just normal people who are protected from severe retaliation through the anonymity of the internet, and therefore think they don't need to be polite or courteous the moment something doesn't go their way.

Well sorry to tell you, but the third reason is definitely the most important one. The extreme snowbally nature of a game that takes at least 30 minutes (including champ select and finding a match) can make ppl just explode with anger when something doesn't go the way they want.

That being said, I do not think that makes toxicity excusable. The only way to counter this natural predisposition ppl have is for DoRito to put their foot down and seriously start punishing toxic people HARD.

Riot supports toxicity, it's not against the rules to be toxic apparently, that's why you still see so many toxic people around.

I don't think riot supports toxicity. I think they tolerate a certain amount of it. However, I am pretty sure they have allowed themselves too much slack in the form of trusting 'systems' to take care of the community. There has to be a human touch to a lot of cases being reported to set an example. People find ways around trigger words and flame all game and these people are not punished. This is the issue.
