Do bans really work?

Ok so im not banned or anything im just thinking about the state of the game in relation to toxicity. Im almost 30 and have played PC games since well since like doom... doom like doom ONE in like 94'. Anyways if im being honest I have never really witnessed a level of true toxicity as LoL displays on a pretty consistent basis. Now with that said this is also my favorite game the I have played for six seasons and had thousands of games.

What is it about league that makes people so just bad. The racism the homophobic remarks.... everything. I swear a black gay woman could play this game and half way through when teemo junlger is 0-8 and the caitlyn top just flashed into the enemy fountain, she would become a racist sexist homophobe.

There has to be something about this game in particular that makes people just lose it. It so farm beyond the normal 13 yo on COD or halo telling you he F'ed your mom prior to teabagging your dead character. LoL is really on a whole new level of toxic. But I dont see how banning people is the answer. I mean take me for example and I feel like there are many people who are similar, I have 9 lvl 30 accts and numerous others in progress. If I wanted to be toxic banning my acct will by no means stop me. On top of that I can go buy a lvl 30 acct for like 8 bucks and rage all day for the couple weeks it will take to get banned for buying the acct.

IDK maybe its just me but I really think the increase in punitive action by RIOT isnt working. I think its making already toxic people even more toxic and it really does nothing to fix the core problem of why these people are toxic to begin with. Honestly I think the old system of when you could get like 200 game chat restriction was more effective. It would be interesting to see RIOT release the report and punishment macro data to the public.

Sope box done

TL:DR Bans dont work, Im old, Chat restrictions better than bans

Depends on the player. I got perma'd last year but I haven't changed whatsoever.

It may not fix their toxicity, but Riot’s stated that many people that are permanently banned actually do reform. A very small percent of people continue making accounts and getting banned again, most either quit playing the game or actually reform (or at least make progress).

Yeah they do ban players pretty well these days which I'm glad they do despite i hate the holiday term so much >_<

In the past I've been 2 week banned and have improved my behavior.

Bans do not work in general in regards to toxic typing. Player reform needs to be the goal not punishment. Currently, League is stronger stance on banning and is as toxic or more toxic than ever.

Check out my solution to reducing toxicity. https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behavior-moderation/ngl0UNYU-toxic-behavior-and-banning-riots-war-on-drugs

No, lol. I've had like 10 accounts. No one who gets banned stops playing.

What a load of shit. Everyone I play in sub 30 has been banned multiple times. Of course they say that. They refuse to acknowledge the worthlessness and incompetent design of their system and the failed ideology is supports.
