A better way to mute people in game

Let's be honest, noone likes offensive people. However, i often find myself not muting offensive people so i can confirm that they are offensive and then report them. So i had this idea. What if people could start a vote to mute people, just like people start a vote to surrender. If someone is offfensive he can get muted for 5 minutes by the team so that he could cool off. After these 5 minutes if he keeps being offensive and gets muted by the team another time the duration can become 10 minutes and so on.

There are many ways Riot can go around implementing this idea but If you feel like this idea is worth reaching Riot's ears then leave a comment or an upvote!

If someone is raging and saw that the entire team muted him, I wonder if he will be a good little boy and concentrate on the game or go troll in other ways...

You can easily mute a flaming rager. You cannot mute gameplay trolling.

the problem with this is that if there is a premade this will be very one sided because let's be honest if there are 3 premades and one of their premades is being very toxic they obviously won't accept the vote and even worse is if there is a 4 man premade they could bully the other player by voting a mute against him even tho they are being toxic. So overall a horrible idea.

I actually agree with this, but in my opinion, I think people should not be banned for being verbally toxic. There is no reason to ban someone for verbally being toxic (with the exception of racial slurs, etc.) and even Riot posts in the games tool-tip, "competitive trash-talking is okay, racial slurs are not." So EVEN Riot says competitive trash-talking is okay, yet people are banned for the SLIGHTEST trash talk.

To get back on track, I think we should be able to vote to mute people, but not for a duration, more like for the rest of the match. This way there won't be any more toxicity coming back once they're unmuted, and them being muted the rest of the match forces them to most likely do 1 of 2 things. They will either A) Stop talking and focus on the match, or B) Quit the match and either is a win-win, because if they focus, your team has a higher chance of winning, and if they quit, then the player behavior system can kick in, and they can be set into low priority or, eventually, banned.

"1. It gives the muted person the chance to reform and to prove that he should not be reported and also the team can see the positive difference."

How condescending.
