Does the word "pathetic" really warrant a 25 chat ban?

Did I just get a 25 chat ban for using the word "pathetic", is what I am assuming? As you can see, I use the word "baby" many times, because Xayah is my girlfriend and closest friend. I tease her and call her "noob", my interactions with her are not serious just playful banter and she knows this since she's not the one who reported me. So, I can't understand for the life of me as to why I would warrant a report, until much lower in the chat where I used the word "pathetic", which I don't see as offensive or an insult, I was using the descriptive word to point out the fact that they were grieving and giving up, which is literally what the word "pathetic" entails. The entire time I am trying to encourage them to not give up. Even when this person was feeding top, I am letting him know "no one was bitchin' at you" for feeding so there was no reason to be so upset, that he should just keep trying, and that we would together get it back late game. I'm sorry, but is that not trying to be positive and encourage someone to not give up or feel bad about losing their lane? Why does Riot insist that every bit of information communicated in chat is done with a big fluffy hug? Was I supposed to say it super sweet-like? I said it like two people playing a game, and there was nothing but encouragement to advance to the end as a team. I really wish the chat-log would include the messages from the other team, but I know the whole thing "you're only responsible for what you say" but I really did not say anything warranting a 25 chat ban, did I? I am really confused and I just don't think it's fair. Of course, they started pointing out that I was the one being toxic simply for encouraging people to not give up and when they were telling the enemy team to report me too, I was just like "go ahead and report me whatever, I know I didn't do anything wrong." But yet, BAM. 25 chat ban. Trying to understand why.

And here's the thing, if I'm joking around with my duo and we banter each other playfully, if someone gets mad at me in the game for ANOTHER reason, Riot should not take into consideration the conversation I was having with my duo when it was mutual playful banter, which then it would not be toxic. My duo had not seen the chat when they were accusing me of being toxic, so I pointed it out to her and told her to say something so they know it had nothing to do with her, which she did say something. She made it very clear that I was not being toxic, within the game and in post game. These guys reported me simply because I called them out for grieving and because I would not hit "yes" on the surrender.

And, if I did in fact say something worthy of this chat ban, please point it out. I am just starting to feel like Riot just wants us to completely say everything super nice/fake/emotionless/robots or just be completely quiet. What's the fun in that? Might as well play with bots. I had already unlocked my honors rewards for quite some time now, constantly getting good honors from every game I played. Yet THIS instance is TOXIC? Really? Come on, guys. Help me understand.

What else could they use to ban me for? Using the word "gay". Not calling anyone in particular that word, just using is as an expression. I assure you, I am homosexual woman, and I use the word on a daily basis. Not insulting anyone, not using it towards anyone, but I should now change my form of expression because the game is just too sensitive? Can we go back to the days where actual racial slurs and being homophobic towards people, and cursing at people in aggression was supposed to be what caused you to get punished? Do people not watch Football coaches talking to their team?

I am wondering; If Xayah is playing premade with you, why do you use chat to talk to her instead of talking to her directly / via VOIP? By using chat you are inefficient in communicating with her and you risk being misunderstood by the other team members and thus risk being punished like you now have been. To the other people in the team your chat is somewhat negative and thus your chat punishment is "fine".

Since you are now on second step of the punishment ladder, it tells us that you have been punished before. With the punishment system Riot has in place, this means that the next time you get punished, you will receive 14 day suspension (or "ban"). After that punishment has been dealt with, the final punishment awaits: permanent suspension. You might want to fix your behavior now instead of later. A start would be to use your vocal cords to communite with your gf (and other premades). It most likely won't be enough though, so you need to do more to avoid being punished in future.

You don't need to say a single toxic word to be in for a penalty.

The system also doesn't make a difference between premades or not. You could play with four friends and insult or grief each other, if one one of them wanted to troll you, they could report you and you'd still get punished.

I would just give you the advice to be more selective when using the chat. Most of the stuff you say is just clutter in the logs. Especially questioning plays after the fact is contrary to what you'd believe, not constructive at all.

Just be glad it was a chat ban. I got suspended for 14 days by using the word fggot once on 10 or so lines of chat.

You know what I want to see? I want to see the other games on that card, they usually put 3. Also what about the games on the report that netted you the 10 game chat restriction? Can we see them?

You are right, this is only mildly toxic. I, too, would be uncomfortable in how you berate your gf in chat (Why do you have to tell a lvl 61 player to scroll all the way out? Shouldn't you have covered that when playing early level bot games?). Also that temper tantrum you threw at the end and refusing to surrender when you have a 1/11/2 Udyr and a 4/10/0 Darius on your team. Be as optimistic as you want, but know that sometimes you just gotta cut your loses and shave a bit of wasted time off these games.

But back to the point, it doesn't matter how mildly toxic it is, it is still toxic and report worthy. Your issue is that this little tiny bit of a report stacked on top of all your other reports pushed you over the line to earn a punishment. So take your 25 game chat restriction and actually learn what clearly didn't sink in when you got your 10 game chat restriction. It doesn't matter how mildly toxic you are, enough mildly toxic games and you're gonna get punished, and next time you're gonna get a 14 day timeout instead.

Stop harassing your teammates with long strings of text they have to make an effort to read that takes their focus away from the game.

Calling people baby is rather condescending after a point.

Stop the pointless conversation. Mute everyone and focus on carrying.

Could be from calling your team pathetic. Or saying gay with no context, so its probably you using it as a derogatory term, as a synonym for lame or shitty or that sucks. Basically, if you want your chat to be only between you and your girl, you need to get a mic and use voice chat. As of right now, your chat is being broadcast to your entire team, so if you say something that ruins their fun or offends them, they see it and report it. Get off that chat box if you dont want your conversation policed. That would SUCK having to use text to chat with friends while playing... idk how or why you do it.

This is a very long post (even excluding the chat logs). So, just paying attention to the title of the post...:

♦ If the question is, "does the word 'pathetic' really warrant a 25 chat ban?", then the answer is: no.

♦ If the question is actually "does the word 'pathetic' [and a bunch of stuff I'm not going to mention] really warrant a 25 chat ban?", then the answer is: when asking if your behavior is ban-worthy, you should really avoid trying to deceive yourself and other people.

I don't mind debating the finer points of what's toxic and what's not (what deserves to be punished/what doesn't, what about the system is functional/dysfunctional/downright-harmful). But I sense that this post deserves one of the above answers. (If not, hey, I'll actually read it, if you say that it matters to you whether I do or not).
