What do you do when someone "death threats", but is clearly not serious?

Say the culprit words his "threat" in a way that very clearly shows he's just trolling. Does it make any difference?

I ask because that makes a big difference when it comes to the police. If the words are such that an online threat can't be proven serious and/or you can't prove the person is capable of carrying out said threat, police generally don't act upon it. (AFAIK)

Look man, here's the reality. The person making such comments(I'm assuming that it's you, since you're making an effort to defend said comments) is having a personal issue, and people going through real life stress often vent by blaming other people, because they can't handle the stress.

You, or whoever you're talking about, should really start exercising self control. This is a dangerous direction to go in.

The person that these comments were directed at has every right to be upset, however, they should also be aware that these kinds of things happen in a high-stress competitive online game. If you are incapable of handling offensive comments, then you shouldn't be putting yourself in a situation where it is likely to happen.

Riot is doing everything they can to try and clean up the community, and they're doing an absolutely amazing job, considering they are actually taking measures to change peoples personality in mass numbers.

Regardless, the world does not revolve around you, and you can't just sit around and play victim while you wait for the world to meet your standards.

Basically all you can do is teach everyone around you to not be an offended victimized PC little bitch and hope it catches on.

Oh I legit didn't know this was the behavior forum. Though I was in GD. Sorry if I hurt any feelings in the safe space. You may all go back to being snowflakes now.

Basically what it means is that, sarcasm and ironic humor are no longer permitted.

What I started doing, starting today is minimize your chat window to the smallest it can go. Typing accurately becomes a chore and you are less likely to do it.... or this device looks promising too:

Basically, every time you want to add wit and humor to the desolate fields of the rift, then buzz yourself with a powerful shock, and in a couple days, apparently, you'll stop.

P.S. Police generally don't have a sense of humor and you will be at the mercy of whatever hysterical nut is bothering them. You never know when they need a poster child for online bullying and that becomes you.

The question is this

HOW CAN A DEATH THREAT BE SERIOUS IN AN ONLINE GAME?

You think that pusssylicker69 will come to your house and kill you:)))...yup..i would be very worried:))

No.

Death threats are death threats, and everyone is accountable for what they say and do.

Also there is no member of law enforcement who takes that stance -- Every threat must be vetted, and if they believe the person in question can be deterred by calling the bluff, they call it.

And if it's genuine? -- There's no talking or hesitation, they get subdued.

F12 it and report it.

1.) Report it anyways just to be a (Troll) use the Law to troll the person making the threats some of us actually have people friends who work in the FBI, and not only that but the person you threaten could be Law Enforcement too with connections.

2.) Have my Firearm loaded IRL and be like come at me bro.

3.) Threatening people over the internet I shouldn't have to say this but with technology these days its not exactly hard to find the person making the threats even if you are not Law Enforcement but many kids making the threats will leave details online which can be tracked easily.

The issue with your comparison is not the person making the "joke" threat. The issue is everyone else.

In the case of police, everyone else involved has the right and freedom to either walk away from the offender or confront them.

In LoL the players are expect to play to the end of the match without leaving, and without retaliating. Since the players aren't allowed to retaliate, then it is up to the system to do it for them.
