Why was I banned?

I was banned because the Caitlyn in my game was repeatedly flaming me for taking dorans blade start vs diana and then proceeding to not feed and not lose my lane but the Cait was salty cus diana roamed bot and she didn't listen to my pings? This was my chatlog:

All I did was defend myself against Cait's flame and ask in all chat for her to be reported and only flaming her once when she went afk for about 5 mins cus Leona missplayed ONCE in lane. Genuinely don't understand what I did wrong?

Edit: The cait nor the leo was banned for flaming me the entire game but I reported both of them and they both claimed to have reported me (no one else said anything about me being toxic only those two who flamed literally everyone that spoke to them)

There you go. That's what caused it.

You did not get banned because the Cait flamed you. You got banned because you lashed out.

Because regular flame does not lead to a ban. If they haven't been punished before, it only leads to a chat restrict (barring ZT words, of course). You would not know if they didn't get punished if they only got a restrict, unless you were to actually see them IRL.

Absence of an IFS report is not absence of punishment, as there are many factors that make it much more rare than punishments are, and I'm not even sure you can get IFS reports while banned.

What Dusk said and probably this:

Calling for a report is punishable as well, and its pointless. If you read through some other threads you'll see people talking about how many reports are the same as 1 report. Its not like games like overwatch where you need 50 to make an impact, just recap what happened from your point of view and that's that. Reacting back only puts you on her level. You can kindly make a statement explaining your actions, if you want to, but it usually doesn't feel worth it because it takes your focus away from the game.

I'd also say it was your overall demeanor in the chat text. Having a negative attitude is reportable, and harassment, whether if you feel you're defending your actions or not, how you present yourself does matter. You don't need to sugar coat you words or anything like at, but coming out and saying "energesis exe: fucking idiot" or "energesis exe: ur braindead" or the such won't help anything and will only make for a tenser game.

About her not listening to your pings, she may have muted them. Maybe, you in a rush, spammed her and she muted them cause both of you were in a flamer's war.

I'm going to be blunt.

It's obvious you were complaining the whole game and your team got sick of it.

You complained about your matchup, then said that player was an ARAM player, then what I assumed was you losing when you said it wasn't a fun match up. Then you complained about your jungler taking a cannon. Then you call someone braindead.

And I'll just stop there because I don't want to type so much.

Look, people don't mind someone complaining, but when you're doing it all game long, from the beginning to the end, they get sick of your crap.

Your whole team reported you, hence your ban.

Why you all talk so much in game? Jesus. Waste of time arguing with idiots. When I play on garbage teams like that, I either try to win or I leave the game. I don't bother writing novels in chat to explain shit.
