The Community of League of Legends and Bullying is Out of Control

The League of Legends community has become a cesspool of horrible people, League of Legends and Riot should be beyond ashamed for allowing such a horrible fan base exist on their game and for not bringing the hammer down on those who would bully other players. honestly its cowardly and neglectful that this company has not taken greater efforts to eliminate trolls and bullies alike. about two weeks ago I booted the game up again after a year or more of not playing. MY TEAM WAS WINNING and yet for some reason three other players decided to bully me for not only accidentally choosing the wrong character but apparently taking kills from them...I cant honestly give two giant turds about this game and had a better time typing to the other team than I did my own. The fact is not that I forgot about the game itself but the fact that I was mercilessly targeted by three players for no reason even while we were winning! they threw racist,sexual, suicidal, mental and physical bullying threats at me and the other player on my team the entire game. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST NOR THE LAST TIME, me and millions of other players have played at least ten or more games with someone either on their own team or on the the other team throwing slander and hate in our direction. I hate to say it Riot...league of legends until you get your act together and start monitoring your game better your fan base is going to keep leaving because they feel harassed and honestly I dont want to play your game ever again due to how horrible people are... I want this to be an eye opener for any devs or site managers to see so if you want post your story about how you were bullied on this game and maybe the game devs will see how they have neglected their players....and if you troll well...your only helping this post. vote on the poll if you want as well.

Riot is the only game company I have seen that actively, consistently, and visibly removes players from their game for harassment, verbal abuse, griefing, and/or bullying. The thing is, bullying is going to happen. The only way for someone to be banned for bullying is AFTER they have bullied someone AND been reported. A lot of people don't report people because that is "tattling", "bitching out", or something like that.

You are the only person that you can count on to stop it, and Riot has given you a way to avoid it and to help remove that person from other people's games. Mute them, report them, then move on with your life.

Also, I am not going to vote in your poll because it is not asking the proper question. Bullying is out of control, but not in league of legends. Bullying is out of control everywhere. Schools, workplaces, the internet. Anywhere not in direct vision of someone who is paid and trained to stop it is filled with bullying, and that is how the world is right now. It isn't right, it isn't good, but its the truth. At least in league you have an automated system watching everything that can deal with issues, learn about new issues, and works quickly relative to all other options, and will only get faster over time.

If you want to try to avoid toxicity altogether, there are a lot of guides but basically: 1: Queue up with friends if you can. 2: Be as visibly positive in the chat as you can if you want to talk at all. 3: Mute anyone that is toxic on first sight. 4: Report toxicity at the end of each game.

The moment those racist/sexual/hate speech comes in, you mute them and keep playing. You KNOW for a fact they're not gonna stop, so why keep reading what they're saying? It's like you want to be flamed

Honestly, why should anyone have to do this. Just ban the flamers !!

In Good conscience, I say though do hit that mute button and report after if you need ;)

League community is mild compared to other games. The only reason I see that people feel the community is so bad is because of a false sense of entitlement. Players in this game seem to offended at the smallest thing and expect a safe space but in other games people talk how they want, while having much more expected of them and tempers will flare. TL:DR If you think the community here is bad I recommend solo payer games, or games with solo player modes.

Well, the general community are Elitest jerks, you either deal with them or don't play. "Git Gud or Uninstall the game!" seems to be the motto to half of the profiles around here. And RIOT can't be bothered to properly moderate it, why do you think all of the punishment system is automatic?

It's why half of the people that voted said everything was fine, because they are usually the turds that are bullying others for playing Olaf.

So tired of seeing things like this. Look man you have a mute button use it. You now have zero problems. And I am sorry but the REAL fact here is that you CHOSE to engage in this conversation instead of using the mute button. It's a shame that words still hurt people. For those words hurting you and I sorry, but use the mute button man. I've experienced this too...doesn't bother me...why should it? I personally don't mute it. But if your feelings are being hurt I HIGHLY suggest using the mute button.

Again I just really want to make this clear. You 100% chose to engage in conversation with these other players instead of muting. Just use it.

Every time I start a game at least one person tells me what I'm to do and how useless I am and encourages "report" all the time. Why not just let players get on with the game and play the best they can? Constructive criticism bring it on but insults and bullying - screw that. It's making me exit the game now.

Then mute them, that simple.

Don't feed the trolls. Click one button and end it. Stop making a big deal about not getting a "zafe zone" on the internet. If they bother you that much there's a mute button for a reason.

I have to say I have had my share of bullying in League. Especially, when I am new to a map or make a mistake because I am learning a new champion. I just mute their pings and comments. It happens mainly in Summoner's Rift. They forget to realize, they were new once and people have to learn their champions and their roles in the map. I try muting those who I can or just let them know you're new or just tell them to stop bcs even if you get reported, admins can see you try to get them to stop with the harassment. I don't want to vote bcs we are giving options to eliminate team and enemy threats. Thanks for the helpful tips provided in this discussion!

It's usually the players ruining games with their crappy play that experience this abuse.

If you aren't willing to spend 5 minutes on youtube learning some tricks for what you're doing, quit the game you're just ruining it for other people.

No one ever is toxic to me like that, learn to play support be useful somehow.

WAIT a min. your level 5 !!! So you have other accounts and have played the game longer and yet you still feel so offended that you have to What? Get back at someone? Tell me I don't understand why ?
