Ironic?

So generally I'm a really quiet person but when someone says something dumb or just flat out rude to me I generally have something to say back. Yet when people are being dumb or annoying just to be annoying and I report them it's like I see them a game or two later and nothings changed for them. Yet I get reported maybe twice in one month and I'm chat restricted for like 343535445223 games. It's ridiculous and it seems like who ever is "moderating" the chat doesn't really take time to look back and check to see why I might have said what I said. I don't really care about being chat restricted I'm generally too focused on the game to really care too much but this is kinda dumb how people get away with so much and when I go to defend myself in any way shape or form through the text I get punished.

The exact same thing happens to me. I have my own thread about this problem and tons of negative people are downvoting it, so it will probably never be noticed (now that's ironic, verbally abusive players trolling the boards make it so that my thread on verbally abusive players is never noticed). Anyways, RIOT's new punishment system is thoroughly broken (not in the good kind of way). Long story short, they punish people like us for pointing out or disagreeing with players who break the Summoner's Code, but instead of punishing them they punish us and accuse us of breaking the Code. Has happened to me more times than I can count. Not sure how to fix it, short of finding as many people as possible and signing a petition saying something needs to change, but they will still probably ignore that.

Punishments are typically the result of patterns of behavior, not single incidents. So those are rare instances for them and common for you. Like 10 different people in 10 different games "says something dumb or rude" each time you respond inapporpriately. Those 10 people have 1 infraction each and you have 10. So you get punished and they don't.

There isn't really anything to defend against. They are very limited in what they can do to you and mute is an absolute defense to people in chat. Engaging with toxic people almost never accomplishes anything, it just perpetuates and/or escalates the situation. Mute them, report them, and move on. You aren't helping by enaging them, you are just piling onto the problem.
