The League Standard

Ive been playing this game for 5 years, many things have changed, but others have stayed the same, pizza feet, teemo, runes and masteries. But one thing has failed to change in the 5 years ive been in this community is the communities way of assuming a players rank and skill is dependant on the current game. I understand theres the standard level of skill you should always bring into every game, but sometimes you get countered hard, say the enemy jungler camps your lane or steals your jungle and now your set behind having the entire team rag on you, spewing nothing but kys and uninstall the game. Why is it that we have a ranked system when all its really used for is status, thr true test skill comes from your current game and how well your doing, even though its just norms. Why is it that its the standard to look at a teammate whose doing bad and ruin their game even more by being toxic towards them.

Because in order to get a high rank in League, you must be consistently good at what you're doing. Yes, a few lucky/unlucky games may slip into the whole equation, but they're not what defines your actual rank. You can't get Diamond 1 just by having lucky games and letting others carry you. And even if you could, you'd be met with a poor fate relatively quickly - losing your rank rapidly, due to the skill discrepancy on your end.

At the end of the day, your rank status is a conglomeration of all of your (ranked) games and displays whether or not you have what it takes to beat players at certain ranks (and every rank has its special thing that you have to overcome in order to even be able to climb). If we were to rely on our current games (I'm assuming that means a match you're playing at any given time), that wouldn't really be an accurate representation in the grand scheme of things. I could be losing so hard against my enemies in some random game, but that wouldn't necessarily mean I'm a bad player. Same goes the other way. Bad/incredibly good games happen, but it's consistency that counts and means the most.

  • 1. But sometimes you get countered hard Getting countered doesn't necessarily mean you're going to lose your lane. Learning how to fight against your counters is what influences your skill.

  • 2. The enemy jungler camps your lane Proper warding and timing counters that.

  • 3. The enemy jungler steals your jungle Proper jungle paths and warding counter that. It also helps if your teammates are actually there to aid you.

These are just some of the challenges (you mentioned) that define your rank, and there's more where that came from.
