The standards for being banned are a bit funny in this game. Flame players and spam chat all you want, but as soon as you say an offensive word, you're banned.

I have found that the best way to shut people up who are being assholes in chat is to tell them it's just a game while also throwing out a terrible insult. In 100% of cases they always reply with "reported", but the effect is achieved as they no longer talk.

For some context, my insult of choice rhymes with digger.

Don't you have to disable the chat filter to see these words? Is there not an implicit assumption that if you turn it off, you want to see these words? Should you be punished for people voluntarily choosing to view your derogatory speech when they had the option not to?

If you don't want people to say certain words, wouldn't the easiest method be to block messages that contain said words? But I digress.

No. Just because you don't mind swearing doesn't mean you don't mind racism or homophobia. It also doesn't mean you're okay with being abused.

That's like saying I can any damn thing I want to your face, because if you didn't want to hear it you'd have covered your ears already. Therefore I can say whatever I like about your mother without any consequences.

Like making people wear bulletproof vests instead of enforcing laws against shooting people.

If you don't like not being able to be racist, go play a game that allows it.

Why is muting so damn hard for some people? You’d rather fire back with deragatory phrases and create a hostile situation, then come whine about it on the boards, than just mute and enjoy the game? You have some sort of complex going on.

Aneirin, I agree with you on your points in hindsight, but I can't see any context where saying the word that rhymes with digger is a positive thing. Regardless of how you use the word in a sentence, it can get you banned just for saying it. These words are the ones I question not being blocked.

As for not muting people... I fight fire with fire. And plus, they actually might have something useful to say... eventually.
