Feedback on the current system (not a troll)

Hi all,

I feel this is the only place I can properly address an issues with the current punishment system. I'm sure this has been brought up a million times, but I feel the need to address it regardless.

I was chat banned this week for actions in one game. Sure, a chat ban isn't a huge thing and I was willing to take it until I saw this line about less than 5% of players being so toxic they need to be banned in that way. Lets get something clear here - your system doesn't seem to have any context or take into account premade teams of 4 in ANY way.

I played a game with a team of four who decided that I didn't gank enough (all lanes were pushed). Instead of asking for help or maybe not pushing so hard, they followed me through my jungle and last hit my camps. Sure, I didn't have to get angry, but I got pretty upset. I play league as a way to relax and have some fun, while at the same time taking it fairly seriously. Having 30-40 minutes totally wasted is very frustrating.

In the chat the team actually admitted to trolling me because they didn't like the way I played, but I assume all 4 reported me and I have been banned. How can your system work this way? Nothing is taken in context and the real issues are never addressed (a team of 4 that can do whatever they want because they have the reporting power).

Please consider finding a way to make your game playable without punishing those who had a bad game due to the trolling of others.

Personally I wouldn't believe the bullshit coming from the above posters.

Riot says something, they parrot it.

There's no proof of the system being used. The previous system did not group premades as a single report and Riot has showed that when it comes to statistics and methodology they are more than willing to, if not outright lie, then twist the data into something that might cause even a theoretical physicist or two to raise an eyebrow.

I've had a couple of chat restrictions. Both due to a combination of premades + one of them deciding to troll me where I am either in the bot lane or jungling. Neither showing anything particularly toxic on my part, but I was foolish enough to talk in both games.

I've had plenty to say in other games, but by total coincidence its the combination of me talking and a team of 3-4 premades where it's magically decided I've crossed a line.

The best lesson you can learn is that talking will get you in trouble, no matter the situation. I flat out quit games once the premade harass starts getting fired up and pointing in my direction, and you should too. There is no reason you should have to endure that crap for 30+ minutes. It's a wasted match, spend your precious recreational time doing something more enjoyable.

Everyone loves to shove it in your face as an excuse for their behavior - its just a game. If you can't play and have fun, go do something else.

multiple reports against you is the same as 1 report. It just flags the system to check that game for toxicity. If you didn't do anything wrong, that report will get thrown out.

This system is put in place to tackle those premades into false reporting others.

For you to get punished, it will be over a bunch of games. Logs or it didn't happen.

A team of 4 does not have any more power to get you punished than you have over them. Reports from premades are counted as only one report specifically so that having a group of friends gang up on you doesn't work. If you got punished for that game, you must have responded in a way that can be considered toxic. They're also in the wrong, but that doesn't excuse whatever behavior you may have displayed.

While I have no objection towards defending yourself or calling someone out for trolling or playing badly, its really just a waste of time to engage with a group of people you arent going to ever see or talk to again once your 30 minutes or so is over.

I think engagement with teammates, whether its "positive" or "negative" makes for a better game experience overall. But if you know you're with a premade and they are coming down on you, there is absolutely nothing to gain from talking to them, even if you aren't concerned about RoC violations.

Multiple people reporting a person is the same amount as one person reporting a person. Also, if you reported them for trolling, they will most likely have punishment also.

However, and I know it doesn't make sense from your viewpoint, any form of retaliation is not justified. Riot is actually really lenient with this kind of stuff, and are very forgiving. Companies like Blizzard can just ban you and not give a shit, because they could care less if you don't play if you are being toxic. Riot has really dedicated themselves to "reform", but sadly they can't control their players, so it ends up that they just have to be VERY forgiving and hope the person doesn't abuse it.

Take the chat restriction as a free pass for now, and try your best not to keep getting mad at it. If it helps, and if your not in an environment where your mom or significant other is down the hall, take out all your rage out loud and yell to yourself.

That's not how bans work. At all.

Post your chat logs.

I just generally remain polite and if someone being aggressive towards me I ignore, not chat, and just continue playing in a group no matter how much they hated me. Then I report the initial aggressor that started it all for verbal abusive behavior. The best way is just record every text you see they created if you do not remember it just briefly explain what they had said and Riot will look that up on their own.

EDIT

I also use ping to communicate with teammates rather than chatting.
