The Schrödinger's champ

Jhin Rakan Kaisa Kayn Yuumi Pyke Senna Every damn time there's a new champion with a high skill cap out they start out busted, with the minor exception of Yuumi (who was immediately hotfixed to broken status). And yet also every time we get players: Banning their teammate's intent because they think the champion sucks. Inting, then flaming their teammate who got the champion for sucking. Complaining about the champion on the boards for sucking. At the same time also complaining about how broken the champion is because they played against someone that doesn't suck with it.

Apparently new champions exist in a superposition of states where they are both broken and useless at the same time.

And then what happens? People learn to play them and Riot has to nerf. Sometimes more than once. Because they were actually way too strong. It's been exactly 7 days since her release and Senna has gone from low 40s WR to 50% (as #2 most picked support champ). This is even faster than with Yuumi, which means she's probably due for a nerf next patch when she turns out to be even more overbearing than post-hotfix Yuumi was.

You're going to play with the new champ. How about not being an ass to the other players just because you don't want to do it now?

So, here's the deal. When Riot releases a new champion, you have both players not knowing how to play them, but also, in addition, players not knowing how to play against them. So until the community as a whole begins to learn both (i.e. the "skill cap" to play the champ is well defined, and the counters are well known), they will be in some limbo.

My winrate on the account I've used most since Senna was released against Senna is well over 80% (in somewhere near 20 games). She's quite easy to counter. Don't give her easy souls by hitting you twice. Don't let her shoot her Q through any minion/ward at you. When she's in her E, assume she has at least 2-3 other champions with her (in case she does), unless you have proof that she doesn't. Learn the range of her root and be able to dodge it, or at least to escape when you get hit by it. Her ult is extremely easy to dodge as an enemy, so then all you have to deal with is the shield - so just back off.

Now, playing as Senna? I have a 90+% winrate because people don't understand how to play against her. Will that change? Probably. But that doesn't mean she's overpowered just because I am able to exploit others' stupidity.

Apparently I too was doing it wrong because I didn't know Senna had to hit a target twice to get mist. Thought it was random and I was just suffering from bad RNG.
