Honor 5 to 1 seems extreme
I got a chat restriction the other day. I'll admit, i was a little on the toxic side. I wasn't blatantly insulting or anything, just generalized complaining. Either way, i'll accept that i probably deserved the chat restriction and am not contesting that. I think, however, that dropping me from honor level 5 to honor level 1 when i have NEVER had a restriction or ban on my account before (been playing since S2) is a little on the extreme side. It's literally taken me THE ENTIRE SEASON to go from honor level 2 (which everyone started at at the beginning of the season) to honor level 5 (which i achieved a little over 2 weeks ago). Im not a "Once in a while player." I play on average between 5 and 10 games per day (SR only, more if i play HA or RGM.) and that's on days that i work. On days off i often play significantly more then 10 games per day. I worked extremely hard to reach honor level 5, and was proud of myself when i did so. Then... during a single game i get a little salty... and at no point am i directly insulting to any individual (no name calling or anything of that nature.) and all that "Positive Play" has literally been reduced to meaning absolutely nothing, completely negated. Think of it like someone who spends years to build a dam, only to find when he finishes the dam isn't required anymore.
I understand that the idea behind the punishment system is to help dissuade negative player behavior, but i think that there should be some consideration for someone who is able to achieve something like honor 5. Hundreds of games have to go into that honor level, hundreds of games where i was NOT toxic or negative... but the one single game where i am... everything is gone. Again, i agree, i deserved the restriction, and i'd even understand an honor drop of a single level or two, and of course locking honor for a bit till I prove it was just a one off situation, but to literally wipe clean HUNDREDS of games worth of honor over a SINGLE game is a little on the extreme side and very unfair.
Bottom line.. maybe take a player's history into account before pissing away their hard work because of a single mistake. It wouldn't even need more then an extra line or two of code. Check if there is a previous ban/restriction, if not, a lighter punishment, if so, slap them with a whole hog. If a kid takes a pack of gum from a store, yeah... that's theft. But he's not going to go to prison for 10 years as if he robbed a bank or stole a car. I cite Riot's recent ruling on many pro players over their toxicity. Some players received heavier fines then others because their offenses were more serious or repeated. Seems a little hypocritical not to have a similar system for non-pro players.
