The reason League players are toxic is that they are a combo of three toxic demographics:
Almost all League players are at least one of the above, while many are all of the above. Go figure.
Reasons people are toxic:
Nearly every single game is a coinflip, it's no longer about skill but who you have on your team.
Trolls DO NOT GET PUNISHED AT ALL = more trolls = coinflip
Every game is a coinflip = 9/10 times, time is wasted. 40min each game, thats a lot of time wasted.
People are fucking fed up at never having a decent well balanced game.
Riot bans the frustrated victims
I agree, a large portion of the player base are extremely childish and toxic players. To me the responsibility for it it's Riot though. It's their game and their responsibility to police the community. Unfortunately even reporting to them is nearly pointless because Riot refuses to address the issues in a substantive way. Many people on the forums have provided some very real world fixes that would work but they have actually regressed from what was done a few years ago.
Needless to say, I feel your pain and it's a shame Riot doesn't care enough to actually address it.
A lot of my games are still friendly. I sometimes think people that have an issue with this are sensitive and are only cherry picking the few games with negative players. We tend to remember the negatives more than the positives, that's just human nature.

none of these are the reasons for people being toxic, well they kinda are the main issue is having a tribunal which is run by players, players who will never report a player, that is playing there main or a char they like. what they need is what most mmo's do hire game masters, they either would watch games all day or read reports. then what they should do is enforce strict rules like if your caught being toxic 5 day chat ban, 2nd time 3 weeks, 3rd time perma ban and post that they did it on there website to scare all the people that are being toxic , a game i played called conquer online did this and within 1 month toxic players droped by, at least 50%.
