[Suggestion] Ranked LP distribution with a leaver in the Team.

Hey folks,

Idk wether this was suggested before.. but I do not understand why I get -LP when there is a leaver in my team. In my opinion all the people not leaving should get -0 LP for a loss and the leaver should get all the -LP from his teammates.

So.. even if I had connection problems once or twice a season, it would be "okay" but all the people who leave games on lower Elo would change their minds asap. Moreover all the people not leaving profit from this change.

It feels just so unfair when you lose a game after 35min where you and your 3 teammates tryed hard to avoid the loss. But in the end you prolly can't win a 4v5.

Lemme know what you think about this, I'd love to get a response from Riot Games.

Sincerely, Morti

In this one paragraph, you listed multiple flaws in your suggestion...

So.. even if I had connection problems once or twice a season, it would be "okay"

How is losing potentially -25*5 = -125 LP be "okay" for a connection problem that you have no control over or you have a family emergency?

all the people who leave games on lower Elo would change their minds asap

What about people who have genuine emergency that is beyond their control or plan? They can't change their minds on having an emergency or something happened that is not planned? How is losing up to -100 LP per game be "okay" when here you are crying about less than -30 LP for having an afk? What about when there is an afk on the other team and you get an easy 5v4 win advantage? Are you "okay" with no gaining any LP off of those games?

Moreover all the people not leaving profit from this change.

And there it is!!! The one keyword that is the major flaw in your suggestion.... "profit". It is "profitable" to have an afk in your team when you are losing. In fact, you are more or less incentivized to create an afk in your team if you are down 5 kills by 10 minutes. You are incentivized to abuse, flame, guilt-trip, threaten your teammate to afk so you don't lose any LP (oh by the way, if you get -0 LP for having afk, do you also gain +0 LP if you do win that hard fought 4v5? Must be a shitty experience to fight for 45 minutes as 4v5 and win...NOTHING). If you also gain +0 LP for winning 4v5, then what's even the point of continue to play the game? Hell, the enemies can even get in on that action, flame, abuse, bm your opponents into afk and you auto-win without having to play the game out since the rest of your opponents have nothing to win or lose.

Are you OK with gaining zero LP if you win because the enemy team has a leaver?

As soon as LP gains and losses are affected by anything other than winning or losing the game, then you pollute peoples' ranks and the ladder as a whole. The only way to ensure this doesn't happen is to nullify the game as if it were a remake - no LP change for anyone. This isn't going to happen because it's easily abused, especially when you have premades. Game not going well? Someone leaves so the game gets erased. Can't do it. It's also not going to happen because it will piss people off to all hell. Riot's running a business here. You start fucking with LP for 10 people per game when there's a leaver, or if you start nullifying games, then people have truly wasted their time and that affects Riot's bottom line when they stop playing.

Additionally, they are absolutely never going to punish a leaver by knocking him down 100 LP. Would you be OK with losing 100 LP if your power went out, if you had to answer the phone, if you had to run to the toilet to prevent yourself from shitting your chair?

Ultimately, the one or two (if that) games over the season that you lose because of a leaver don't affect your rank in the long run. If you're not climbing, you need to look at other reasons why.

What about the people on the winning team? This could be highly abuseable and would lead to an increase in toxicity with teammates pressuring someone on their team to quit so the rest don’t lose an LP.
