Honor System is FLAWED

This post got me thinking.

I really do think it's unfair that someone who has maintained Honor 4 for the majority of a season will lose rewards and all progress right at the end over a chat restriction. I have some ideas that might improve the way punishments work: -Chat restrictions don't set you back to Honor 1, they set you back one level of Honor. So someone who has managed to work their way up to Honor 3+ won't be set back to "dishonorable" -Players receive a warning that they are X number of reports/games receiving reports away from a chat restriction. Allow people an opportunity to check themselves before stripping everything away -Find additional ways that players can earn Honor and increase the likelihood of making up lost ground after a reset close to the end of the season

What ideas do you all have?

Don't you think that these two ideas in tandem are trying to solve one small problem a bit overmuch?

Like, I could understand either of them in isolation - though I'd still readily disagree with both - but presented together, it looks like you're just trying to shoot the problem down outright and, for lack of better words, overnerf Honor penalties.

And at that point, if Honor penalties don't sting half as bad and it becomes super easy to gain Honor, then the Honor System as a whole becomes kinda pointless, when even toxic players can just redouble their efforts and hit Honor 3+ super quickly.

The whole idea is stupid. It's pointless and has zero bearing on the game.

it will be a cold day in hell when the punished gets to dictate how the punishment is supposed to go

-Players receive a warning that they are X number of reports/games receiving reports away from a chat restriction. Allow people an opportunity to check themselves before stripping everything away

First of all, people are not punished because of x number of reports against them. they are punished because of valid reports of rule breaking.

Secondly, the chat restriction IS the warning that allows you to check yourself "before stripping everything away" with a ban

-Find additional ways that players can earn Honor and increase the likelihood of making up lost ground after a reset close to the end of the season

such as?

fair suggestion

-Players receive a warning that they are X number of reports/games receiving reports away from a chat restriction. Allow people an opportunity to check themselves before stripping everything away

fair suggestion

But I'd say you should choose this or the previous suggestion. Not both together. Personally, I'd prefer a warning over the 1 tier drop. For tier drop, you would have gotten punished already. Warning happens before the punishment, so if people decide to stop being toxic, they won't get punished.

-Find additional ways that players can earn Honor and increase the likelihood of making up lost ground after a reset close to the end of the season

Nope. Nothing to boost honors. It's got to be fair throughout the season.
