Literally every single report ive ever gotten has been from me replying to someone who was toxic to me first. I just got banned in a match where my teamates decided to to troll me by flashing into me with zil bombs to kill me. Not one teamate, 2 of them. i then AFKd (it was ARAM and they were obviously premade. If they want to troll randoms, then fuck them)

Then they said "what a useless waste of life"

I said dont troll people next time then he devolved into the typical teenager thing of "i trolled you and its your fault for being mad at it lmao look at this guy so mad" etc etc.

Enemy team jumped in, "what a bitch for afk". Like if they wanted to win the game, why are they flashing into low health teamates with zil bombs on them? Makes zero fucking sense.

Just so its clear I hadnt said or done ANYTHING towards them at all. Completely unprovoked trolling by a premade. this is just this match, every other report ive gotten has been me replying to toxic people. There seriously needs to be a system that checks things better. Im sick of getting punished even though im the victim.

Getting the chat log on the ban screen saying "this is why you're banned" and it fucking shows that IM the one who was the victim is infuriating.

You are no longer the victim when you decided to flame them back.

It takes 2 people to have an arguement.

We get at least one of these a day...

Responding to trolls is the worst thing you can do.

So, it has come to this: someone displayed misbehavior in a LoL match in flagrant disregard for the game's rules, ToS, EULA, and Summoner's Code. That's unfortunate, and I'm sorry you had to deal with it. If this misbehavior happened in chat (including emotes or ping) and they don't respond positively to a single, courteous, constructive request to focus on the game, your best option is to mute that player. Submit a report after the match. This is equivalent to dealing with a noisy person in a library by asking them to keep it down and then notifying library staff and moving to another area.

Do not respond with misbehavior of your own! If you do that, your teammates may report you, and those reports would be valid. This is equivalent to dealing with a noisy person in a library by getting into a shouting match with them. Just because someone else started it doesn't justify you in continuing it. I'm sure you're familiar with the "s/he started it" trope, where two children get into an argument or fight and then try to claim innocence of any wrongdoing by claiming that they didn't instigate it. As any parent, teacher, or other supervisor of children will tell you, that excuse doesn't fly. When Dad is trying to drive you to Disneyland and your annoying brother starts making faces at you as he's previously been told not to, you should calmly ask him to stop, and then, if that doesn't work, calmly notify your parents of the problem. Making faces at him or shouting at him has never been a good way to get him to stop, and it makes you just as guilty of that as he.

Riot doesn't care who started it. Someone else's misbehavior does not justify your own.

From Riot's support knowledgebase:

  • Simply speaking, retaliation is not an acceptable or justifiable behavior. An argument between two players can easily create a negative experience for the rest of the players in the game with you. Regardless of the other player’s actions, this does not justify your own behavior. You alone are responsible for your actions within the game.If you encounter a toxic player like this, the best option is to simply report their behavior and move on.
  • Reports are a vital piece to the puzzle. If you are not sure of what sort of behavior is reportable take a look at the Reporting a Player FAQ

What the community wants you to understand is that when you are attacked you have to shut up, keep participating and enjoy yourself same as IRL right? The system is broken, players know it and abuse it. Rito doesn't care if the ban is fair as long as it reduces toxic chat. But the result is an increase in toxic behavior which ruins the game more than chat.

And this is why I mute chat. Because Riot doesn't allow you to stand up for yourself. Meaning, you aren't allowed to retaliate! If you do, you get punished. Then, just mute everyone from the get-go so you don't see them type nonsense. I mean, its either that or just not playing the game because no one likes to listen to crap from strangers and take it like a little bitch.

Of-course. You can mute and report! But think about it, out of the X number of games you play a week. How many games do you get where someone just starts spouting nonsense without any provocation at you or someone else on the team? I dare say that atleast a little less than half or even more depending on the times you're playing at. That's just tilting.

Then there are some exceptional cases. I saw one OP who I admired quite a bit because he spoke about how if someone says something to him in chat. He just doesn't accept it, it doesn't affect him. He talked about how he learned to control himself better and how strangers saying something to him was irrelevant. It makes sense. But this was one post/thread out of like dozens like the current OP's. I've not seen a similar post since! So my point is, most people who play the game are going to have the mindset like this. "You slap my face, I'll slap you back!" And some might even go on to say that they will not only slap your face but also kick it down for starting it. That's the standard response. The current system of no retaliation, mute-report may or may not be working for Riot. I don't know! But I'm interested to see if Riot keeps implementing this current system or revamps it to a newer one.

Conclusion? Just mute chat OP. Good luck with your future games. [galio-happy]

excuses are great and all but some chatlogs would be nice

Banning is a common business practice, all the big companies do it. As for those that say "you retaliate so you're just as guilty" they defend the system because they're the ones abusing it. Sorry you had to learn the hard way.

moist moms12/18/2019, 9:26:45 PM1 votes

Yeah they're a bunch of degenerate cry babies who like to insult and troll others but can't accept when someone calls them out for it. Unfortunate situation for anyone who plays the game. Fortunate that they're corralled here and not infecting the real world with their social r%%%%%ation.

You get in chat wars in the middle of games and got banned for it? Good. System working as intended. No one wants to play on a team where their allies are bitching and moaning at eachother the whole time. Might as well just play with my parents if thats what I wanted, shit.

Unless we see the chat log, it's impossible to know the entire story. But from what you told us, you aren't the victim here. Them trolling you isn't a reason to flame, especially in an ARAM.

Just let the 20 min game go by and next it.

XPnut12/19/2019, 4:49:58 AM1 votes

If you spent money call VISA or MC and issue a chargeback and just start a new account. Problem solved.

pIlIThomas12/18/2019, 6:24:43 PM1 votes

Yo. Dont bother arguing with SJWs that infest this forum. They have a group-think mentality. Just make a new account, NEVER BUY RP EVER, and try to never type for any reason.

Also, you've now learned that as long as you don't "disco nunu" or type in chatbox, almost nothing ingame is reportable. Useful info when someone starts trolling you ;)
