Has any thought been given to removing surrenders?

Lots of players abuse the surrender feature by refusing to participate until their team forfeits when a match goes bad. This isn't the only way surrendering is abused, but it's a good example.

I know surrender is there for those hopeless matches or matches where you have leavers, but does it cause more harm than good? If it's meant to stay, that's fine, but I'd like to know Riot's philosophy regarding keeping it.

Players that refuse to participate a lost game would still refuse to participate without a surrender feature though. There's no reason to remove it.

I just gave it some thought.

It would be bad to not allow a supermajority to vote to end the game.

Lol, video games are meant for fun; if a majority of players aren't having fun anymore in a match, why should they be forced to play? Not to mention the annoyance of playing a game you think is lost, surrendering is a relief in that regard.

I and many other players will literally resort to (soft) afking if surrenders didn't exist

Need it to ff20, when someone says no in 15 and drags out the unwinnable game, btw loosing an inhib at 20 and all towers at 30 is a loss, but whena duo says no and the enemy is KDA padding and bleeding us to death with 4 drakes, elder, baron etc its a hostage situation, aka me being stuck and unable to play (perma grey screen).

Giving up and discontinuing participation in a match is already a reportable offense and isn't the fault of the surrender feature.

Eh. There are just some games that destroy your mind which are better to get out of, reset, refresh and try a new one.

Pretty sure having the surrender option is purely a good idea lol.
