How do we draw the line? Acceptable behavior discussion

Hello fellow summoners,

By now we have a pretty good idea about what ISNT acceptable by players in terms of behavior. Now to keep us balanced, I wanted to start the conversation about what IS acceptable.

Primary topic: How do we define what is acceptable and what is not? Why?

Sub-Questions: Should action be taken for over reporting?

Is friendly "smack-talk" okay? How do we define it?

Should Riot decide what is acceptable or should we, the community, decide what is acceptable?

How do you feel about a personalized language filter?

The report system is region-specific; this means that as players report what they view as negative/toxic behavior, the system picks up on what that region's expectations are regarding punishable behavior. As a general rule, attacking other players is a no-no, while bantering/friendly "smack-talk" is okay unless it can clearly be viewed as offensive/derogatory. Cultural expectations are something that each of us pick up on a day-to-day basis through our interactions with other individuals. If someone walked up to you and called you a racial slur or started following you calling you names/being a dick, you'd probably pick up on that not being acceptable behavior.

In a nutshell, use your best judgment, and err on the side of caution rather than risk being seen as a dick.

Who is this WE? Last I checked it was riot that decides.

You can actually be pretty damn toxic and rude without getting valid reports in this game already. When you go off the rails with 50+ lines and cuss words is where the system draws the line.
