They punish it as toxicity, because that's what it is. It is punished the same as going, no wonder you're bad, you're a little kid. And that's how it should be. Though, Riot has gotten themselves into a sticky spiral of idealism, as it is hypocritical because if you said "no wonder you're bad, you're gay", it would be considered hate speech by Riot, which I disagree with because hate is a normal human emotion, as we all can see by looking at the world around us. Also, inferring hate is a sort of thought crime that no authority should ever have the power to detect unless it's specifically stated.

I don't really know what exactly they recognize as sexist behavior, but it definitely is taken seriously and can result in an escalated punishment (skipping to account bans) just the same as using racist or homophobic language or telling someone to kill themselves. Try not to let it get to you, mute and report them; some kid that just wants to push your buttons isn't worth being frustrated over.

Well, a lot of kids are currently not in school, so that could explain it at least partly. I hate sexism, but there isn't much you can do aside from muting / reporting here, an as long as you do that, they'll be taken care of. Sorry that you have to keep playing with people like that :\

I mean that and you're lucky that's what they're saying to you compared to some of the other crap going around.

I don't know what you mean by "I keep running into these players".

Do you mean you are constantly matched up with the exact same players? Because unless you're Diamond or higher, I highly doubt that is the case.

Or, what I think you must have meant : You keep meeting sexist jerks in your games. If this is the case, then the explanation is simple : Because there's a new asshole born every day.

I'm extremely sorry for the sexism you have to put up with, it is degrading and extremely unfair. If it makes you feel a bit better about it, though; I suspect these people are just angsty teenagers trying to get someone to react to them rather than actual mysogynists. It is unacceptable in either case.

All we can do as individuals is not be sexist. I don't make fun of women online and for the most part I don't even notice your summoner names when playing. If you're a jerk you're a jerk and if you're funny you're funny. I don't care if someone is a girl or a boy, man or woman, I'm not going to put up with their crap either way, and I'm not going to give them crap either way. The problem I have with sexism is people like me get caught in the crossfire of extremism like "All men are pigs" and "all women are bad at video games" or "all pretty girls that stream league are attention seekers".

I'm conscious of the concept of victim-blaming and attempt to avoid it whenever I can. I hope you'll forgive me if the following comes across as insensitive or offensive.

I truly don't think that female gamers should use gamer tags that identify them as female. I know, I know, you should be able to use a name that reflects your own wishes, and in a perfect world you'd be able to do so. But a fundamental reality of video game culture is that there exists a vocal percentage of incorrigible misogynists who will latch on to female identifiers as targets for their toxicity. Bad players that need to fixate on an "other" quality in their fellow gamers as a means of deflecting their lack of skill, basement-dwellers rejected by women who don't know how to act around them, trolls who think "go back to the kitchen" is the peak of comedy, you name it. They exist, and while I hope one day they will be a negligible presence, we simply aren't there yet.

If you're going to use a name with "lady" in it, you're going to face sexism. I don't condone it, I encourage you to report it, and I certainly sympathize with your plight. But and the end of the day, the best option you have to avoid it is to get a name change.

they shouldnt be punished MORE, they should just be punished...no reason they should be punished more than any other form of verbal abuse/toxicity.
