Is dealing with tox, trolls, etc, an expected challenge of the ranked climb?

I don't mean expected as in sanctioned, but expected as in "This is one of the challenges you must face beyond learning your champions, and you must learn how to deal with it?"

I wonder if this is why we see so many pro players that behave badly - if you're used to tox, perhaps even toxic yourself, then the toxic behavior of other people won't bother you as much, with that being one less mental challenge you need to work through to start climbing the ladder?

I plan on actually starting ranked once the season begins, and I'm trying to psych myself up for it.

Does "mute, report, and carry on" have just as much weight as "stay behind your minions when Blitzcrank is in lane"?

Does "you will have trolls in your promos" have just as much weight as "going for baron when you don't have vision of the enemy team is a bad idea"?

Are these unwritten rules that anyone who wants to get to challenger needs to internalize?

I would say yes. I'd also add that it is true not only for this game, but any game with an online ranking system where you must face other human beings. There is a wide range of emotional responses that people can have when dealing with stressful external stimuli. Knowing how to look past it, ignore it, and not get caught up in it, is an extremely useful skill, which is applicable not only in online gaming, but in life as well.
