How far can I go with arguing back without getting reported

Title says it all pretty much. I've been banned in the past for arguing back without using degrading or offensive words with players that are bullying me, only it seemed to be that I was arguing back for too long. Would I get banned for simply arguing back for too long? This is coming from a person that doesn't ever call someone out for being bad, doesn't use the word 'autismo' or 'autistic' and so on. I'm sure you get my point. Actually, sometimes, if they're actually trying to hurt me or someone acting like they know whats up, I'll call them a kid that doesn't know any better. I can't see that being reportable, though.

Easiest way for me to put it: In an extended argument with me trying to ask the other player who is literally bullying me, "what is it that actually makes me bad?" and questions that they just simply can't answer. Where did I go wrong to get banned? These people flaming me are the very same people to report me, btw. I'm sure that in the end they took fault, hopefully.

Don't ask for chat logs this isn't on any specific case.

State your opinion, defend it 2-3 times if needed and if the other player doesn't want to understand it you just mute him.

That's what I do. Never even had a chat restriction.

well, firstly the reports don't matter unless you did something wrong to validate the reports.

I defend myself with gameplay only stuff. Once you start counter attacking with insults, is when the report becomes valid.

Personally I never care about people reporting me, cos I always stick to gameplay related chat only and never insulting others.

Why don't you just, idk, mute and not argue back?

Chat in this game is petty pointless, everyone is simultaneously the most knowledgeable person about league, and the biggest idiot the world has ever seen. Nothing you say or do will ever change someone's perspective or view point on the internet, league included. You could tell a 0-20-0 sona that maybe rushing thornmail first item wasn't the best choice, but you would still be wrong, and also a jerk, and also troll / report x player for toxic he made fun of my shitty build.

Tldr; mute all at the first sign of conflict, maybe even before.

I didn't read the whole thing, but to your question about it mattering how long you argue back; I would hope yes. I like to think (though I know I'm probably wrong in this society of sensitivity) that toxicity is punishable because it distracts from the game. Your objective is to try to win, so starting arguments in chat obviously distracts from that objective. It turns the focus of the game into a chat war. You participated in that chat war, and that should be punishable. Don't use chat excessively, I know they say that it's about being offensive and all that, but I think the distraction is the most important part. Play the damn game. In the middle of a match, you choose to hold session on whether something is OP, viable, the right move, the wrong move, wtf... just play the game. Go on a forum to discuss what is optimal or balanced.

I just make my point once and mute if the conversation drags out much further.

I'm here to play the game, not have a discussion.

Address the problem, not the player.

"It's a good idea to ward behind the drag pit, so it doesn't get stolen again"

"You moron, why didn't you ward back there?"

See the difference?
