OPINION: Why League of Legends breeds NEGATIVE Behavior

This is just a thought I had:

I understand that having a community of people who are encouraging and polite is something that RIOT wants more than anything in the world for their game. They care about the overall toxicity of the game because it really does reflect the LoL community. I think we all agree that it would be Preferred that players were less toxic and strayed away from ruining in game experience. It would be the perfect community if everyone was happy. Despite RIOT's efforts, this is not a perfect community just as much as this isn't a perfect world.

League of Legends is a competitive online multiplayer game. Players from all over the world compete to be the best like no one ever was, and that mentality causes people to act in a manner that reflects it. Even in the real world people vary in how competitive they get. I remember back in Varsity soccer the time I wanted to drill through the other team's players or maybe hurt one of their best just so I have a shot at winning. It was the "end justifies the means" mentality. I know I couldn't be the only one who has been there in competitive sports; however, when the game was over, when or lose, I understood that it was just a game. I may be really happy and exhausted or distraught and exhausted, but there was a new game the next day. It was easy to move on.

League of Legends is the same way. Players compete, say nasty things to each other, and sometimes give up because of another player's behavior. _The true difference between the IRL sports and League is that we really drill hard into demonizing our teammates on the Summoner's Rift. I don't really know why that is, but it's true. _

Besides the negativity, I believe there is a big difference between toxic behavior and negative behavior. Negative behavior, in my opinion, is usually found among competitive, tilted LoL players who get triggered over a teammate's "lack of skill." Sometimes these players try their best to be encouraging. It does, however, get harder and harder to stay positive as the game continues and that one teammate is very behind in gold/items compared to their laning opponent. It's when comments such as "you f@#$ing suck" and "GG bronze/feeding top laner" create the negative atmosphere on a team in League. **Majority of teams lose if they have negative criticism compared to positive criticism, and that is a punishment enough already. ** Players who have negative behavior are punished by their losses, and the tilt gets worse by each game.

Now, Toxic behavior is much different. Toxic players are those who act outside of the chatbox in game. These are your feeders, afk farmers, and d/cs. Other than that, toxic behavior consist of racial, homophobic, and sexist slurs and real life threats to do another harm. This is toxicity and this is what deserves punishment more severe than losing a simple game. Permaban is the most severe while chat restrictions are warnings to toxic players for their toxic behavior.

Personally, I think it's wrong to permaban someone with a negative attitude because there are games that they can be very positive in. Sometimes they are negative because another player antagonizes them (typically toxic players). Although both are distasting and unfair to the positive players, it's absurd to say that negative criticism holds the same weight as toxic behavior/phrases.

Some of you may disagree, but negative behavior is a personal issue compared to the social issues found in toxic behavior. Everyone has bad days, and no one should be punished for them besides losing the majority of their games.

This is a competitive game, and to be nice to everyone is like giving a participation trophy to kids who feel left out because they can't compete as well as those who deserve a real trophy.[zombie-brand-mindblown]

Counterpoint: summoner's code

You and every other player agreed to it. Toxicity is caused by those who refuse to follow it.

Literally, all the problems could be fixed if the tribunal was brought back.
