Unfair bans, A flawed system, and horrible support.

I have been playing League since roughly season 3 first on an account called Create A Dream and now on my account Destroy A Dream, and not once have I ever truly understood the system put in place for chat restrictions or bans. The system has never truly made sense to me and I feel as though it makes since to practically no one. Not only is the actual software side (how the god damn thing works) of the system not truly explained anywhere, but the explanations offered genuinely seem unfair. One quote "Simply speaking, retaliation is not an acceptable or justifiable behavior. An argument between two players can easily create a negative experience for the rest of the players in the game with you. Regardless of the other player’s actions, this does not justify your own behavior. You alone are responsible for your actions within the game. If you encounter a toxic player like this, the best option is to simply report their behavior and move on." is literally in response to I'm assuming, common complaints. So, this is an unfair system set in place, and people complained, and their response is "deal with it" think of any situation in which it's better to suck it up and deal with it, than to retaliate, whether it be to a teacher with an unfair ruling or to a boss mistreating employees. In both those situations you might think "it's better to suck it up and deal with it or I might get in trouble or I might get fired" and **ALTHOUGH** this might seem like its the best option, it's also an option that leads to oppression. If someone says or does something unfair, especially someone in a superior position, rules and laws are set forth by most countries (*cough* the first amendment *cough*) to ALLOW people to speak their mind and fight back to this. This is a fundamental predicament of human behavior, people SO RARELY are able to bite the bullet, or swallow their pride, and because of that fact, people are usually not required to do this. Yet, riot undermines this right in order to create a less "toxic" environment, and instead an oppressive one. I am upset at this notion presented on their website, simply because during an entire game I was flamed by 3 members of my team, and the one thing I said was "please stfu and play" which caused a chat restriction and loss of honor. Which if anything, proves the unfair quality of the Instant Feedback Mechanic put in place.
Secondly, if you try to spark an argument with support on these topics, they are unable to do anything about your honor levels. So if you are indeed unfairly banned for any reason, your honor is permanently gone, which is completely stupid and NEEDS to be changed. The system bans the use of any Curse words (Like fuck and shit for instance) despite the reason they are used. Which doesn't make any sense either, If I say "god damn that's a huge minion wave, what a clusterfuck of gold and XP right there!" and then get reported, that could incredibly easily result in a ban. I know this because of shared chat logs from friends that got chat bans for saying similar things in chat without ever saying toxic things and then got banned for them. That resulted in lost honor, now even when they contacted support and got the ban lifted, honor was not replaced. I predict a response from support would be something along the lines of "even though the ban was unfairly placed the honor system exists on a different platform and unfortunately we can not replace that as the system exists outside of the punishment system" which literally makes no sense and was probably copied and pasted from a notepad that they were sent when they decided to work for riot. Probably from an email with a Hotmail domain name. Now you can reply how you like or argue or anything, but if you are unfairly punished and it is DECIDED it was an unfair punishment, than anything taken from you should be given back. Simple, easy, and makes complete, logical, sense.
Paragrafo numero tres, why the hell doesn't the tribunal still exist? It makes no sense not to allow the chat logs to be judged by the player base. The player base consists of the people who you know, PLAY THE GAME, who UNDERSTAND AND SYMPATHIZE WITH PLAYERS PUT IN THESE SITUATIONS! The best people to judge whether or not it was cool of you to act this way, are the people who play this game! There should be no debate over this issue! This would solve literally Every. God. Damn. Complaint. About the punishment system that exists on these boards. The people can't argue with decisions made BY THE PEOPLE, the people can EASILY argue with systems made by a robot. See a couple things are clear to me based on the nonexistence of a tribunal, Riot doesn't care if you get banned, they don't care if you think it was unfair, and they don't care if you are upset about it. They don't care if you lose honor because that means less skins for free and more In game transactions, they don't care if you are banned because if you truly love the game you will make a new account, and probably spend money on an XP boost to get back to level 30. And lastly, they don't care about making a fair system through a tribunal because if they were to do that, it would cost upkeep money for software development and server allocation. Riot has lost interest in customer opinion and focused on the money. Riot doesn't care what we have to say anymore because if they did, money would need to be spent. ITS CLEAR they don't need to focus on the satisfaction of the rare customer that feels they have been cheated by an unfair system, because of the 27 million and growing player base, few care enough to speak up, and even fewer care enough to completely quit the game. (cus its too damn addicting)

You know, I could only get through a little bit of this wall of text.

You are never a prisoner. Don't like the rules of the game? Don't play. Boss treating you like garbage? Find another job. I know it's not always that easy, but that's why we have at-will employment in the USA. You can get fired for any non-discriminatory or illegal reason. You can also quit for any reason and you don't owe the company a goddamn thing.

This is a video game that has rules. They are not hard rules. Nobody is oppressing you in a video game. The flaming words of internet strangers in a video game should not affect your life in any way. They should be punished for breaking the rules, but you're in charge of how you react to them - ignore them for the assholes they are and move on with your life.

And if you're one of those dudes that thinks the Tribunal would have resulted in less punishments for people, you've got another thing coming to you. Those of us who participated overwhelmingly voted to punish. We didn't tolerate horseshit behavior either, regardless of who started it.

There is absolutely no reason for you or anyone to be emotionally involved in a video game to the tune of 1,051 words. You need to take it, and yourself a lot less seriously, and if a video game is causing you this much consternation...don't play it! Nobody deserves to be aggravated and pissed off in their spare time.

Not sure why you typed that but I got a chuckle. As for the crux of your complaint, a simple solution is to learn self-control.

You are aware of the rules of the game, so follow them. If you don't like it then don't play it. Also the tribunal doesn't exist because of the long queue times due to the sheer mass of the playerbase at this point.

More support from other people arguing the same point!! m0mSpagh3tti (NA) - about a year ago The truth is that RIOT has a broken system where in players are banned via an unpopularity contest. Bad behavior in game is ignored and instead, only chat is punishable. This is just a fact to be accepted. If you have a team mate trolling, feeding lane or trying to prevent an adc from cs'ing, and you call that out and they get upset and report you, you'll be punished and they will not be. This is how League has been for quite some time now and why so many have abandoned the game and why you so often hear about the "toxic" community. RIOT has just never learned how to police their game. Banning for chat is INSANE as all players have the ingame ability to MUTE CHAT. Let's stop supporting this broken system! There are plenty of other games out there to play.

ZaKeNuKeM (EUW) - 11 months ago Riot doesnt take context in hand, they think they are doing a good business call by banning "toxic" behavior , but really they are loosing customers and feeding the toxicity in the game.

League is a game in decline and riot doesnt seem to care. im a player from before season 1 and i got a 14 days ban for saying the word "%%%" in an empty after game lobby. amazing, because %%% isnt a freking meme XDDDDDDDDDDDDDD but people who work for riot doesnt have humour or any sense of LOGIC AND REASONING! i dont understand how people still play this game when the real toxic people are the ones running the show. no other game gets away with this treatment of their LOYAL AND LOVING fanbase. gg riot. That even if im a paying customer for 9 years, never had an suspension before , i now risk my account being permabanned. Because the GRIEFERS and TROLLS reported ME , using mob mentallity to report the one actually trying to win and actually playing the game properly and trying to ask for assistance in the chat, only getting trashtalk back from the griefers. they go free and can continue reporting and ruining the game for actually non toxic people.

And wow , every one can get pissed of, we are humans not robots like you riot.

do they even check the replay? NOPE

AND ALSO i dont give a flying poop about swearing, toxicity in writing and people being offended. deal with it, get thicker skin , what are you,a delicate little snowflake? Ban true and regular offenders and not people who accidently 1 time say 1 bad word ONCE in 9 years without any context.

you dont even follow your own rules riot. FIRST OFFENCE: 10days chat "ban"!!!!!! APPLY YOUR SELVES RIOT

Edit: well played riot you banned the word on the forum but not ingame ...... also you show the words in the banlog but they dont show ingame.... how does one offend with this symbol **

Riot games ? more like CCCP https://boards.euw.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behaviour-en/r3Aa53LR-riot-is-just-unfair-with-their-bans-14-days-ban-for-nothing

Superior Profke (OCE) - about a year ago Many people who are actually toxic would get tilted by losing a game and report enemy players for something that was obviously not offensive. The majority of young adults in todays society treat cuss words like they would any other word. Ive lived in both Australia and New Zealand and a common greeting could be something along the lines of "sup c*nt" . This was obviously not intended to be offensive and he was probably reported by an enemy player who was salty about losing a game. Bans need to be looked over by a human who can read in context and make an informed decision not a computer program that looks for words or phrases that are considered offensive.

Here's an example, a player makes an awesome play that potential turns around a game, "you are f%cking insane" followed by "that was awesome" would obviously be a compliment. Computer system would analyze the chat and determine that "you are f%cking insane" is verbal abuse and hand out a punishment. Any ban should be confirmed by a human that can read in context.

Rengorax (OCE) - about a year ago I don't care what anyone on this post responds with, this is 0% toxic in any receiving way. This guy seems like the most laid back and chill person I have ever seen. He is lagging on 1000 ping and not getting stressed out or flaming or anything. This is a rare case where he got auto-banned for using oh so precious swears. I would definitely agree with a reversal of the punishment in this particular instance.

I read the whole thing and haven't seen any insults period, much less directed at any individual. No person in their right mind can take offence to his remarks. The only way this ban makes sense is that he got banned for simply using the language. Lets be real. No Rioter looked through this and determined that he is a toxic player. If you want to point me to a human that genuinely read this and thought he deserves a 14 day ban on this game alone, I would say they should be fired. They would be doing their player behavioural systems a great dis-service.

This is not justice. This guy is just trying to make the light of an otherwise bleak situation, and you are punishing him saying he is a bad-tempered ill-meaning person. How dare you. These are some of the only people that keep coming back and playing League. You are banning your core player-base now. This is embarrassing.

the issue is though, that no system riot implements (human, bot, or both) would 100% agree with a statement that a player is "trolling/int feeding/etc"

things vary from match to match

1 game player a can do amazing but then next game he does horrible...does that mean he is trolling? we don't know for sure, you may few it that way (because you got queued with them for both games) but other people could view it as a bad matchup, or a bad game

you could have a bot and a human look at 1,000 matches and they likely wouldn't learn anything on how to determine what constitutes are trolling or inting at least not enough to always be able to spot it every time

chat is easy for bots and humans to see what can be punished...but other subject become a weird grey area of indecision

a player tribunal wouldn't solve the issues either (riot tried this with chat and it failed) because you could have people who favor other Leaguers for one reason or another and just sweep stuff under the rug and make up a plausible excuse
