What is up with people? I wanted to give LoL a try, but this is inexcusable...

Hello,

I am a pretty decent DotA 2 player, but wanted to give LoL a try. So far my sample size is rather small, but it's still worrysome.

I've been flamed in 9 out of the 11 games I played. It wasn't anything harmless either. It wasn't due to me doing poorly since I only fed in one match so far. I've been playing Kayle since she's cheap and pretty straightforward. anyway, now to the real point. The thing that worries me is that people get away with telling me to go and kill myself, giving deaththreats, swearing with terrible diseases and apparently wishing a plague upon my entire family.

Atleast one of those instances has happened in 82% of my matches. I know that such people suffer from mental disabilities, but that behaviour should be punished.

it happens a lot in lower levels since those are often people trying to relevel their accounts after being banned, and certain servers are definitely more toxic.

Hmm..... Sounds like your experiences are about right so far, but here; let me give you a Welcome on behalf of that 20% of the playerbase that isn't a complete asshole.

Yeah, some make new accounts when they get permabanned, so the low levels are infested with them. It gets better the higher up you go in levels so I can only imagine that the system is working and that toxic accounts rarely make it as far as level 30.

New accounts are also punished more harshly, as to remind new players of what behaviour is ok and what isn't and to weed out all consistently toxic accounts.

Mute all soon as the match starts. Your LoL experience improves dramatically.

MUSHROOM MIDGET8/9/2017, 5:28:31 PM3 votes

the problem is such behavior has already been punished. most of those people you are playing with have been banned for being toxic and so have created new accounts. when you make a new account you are playing with the worst of the worst.

low level league of legends is a real prisoners island atm

Utilize the report function and help make our community better!

Wigglepufftuff8/9/2017, 6:25:38 PM2 votes

Don't worry too much about it. Very beginner levels are either people who think they're faker because they watched a video of league, people who were banned and are toxic about it, or the very 1% such as yourself =P It gets much MUCH better once you get up to level 30, at least it is for me. Also, another opinion, it seems draft pick is less toxic than blind, since noone really has to fight over roles and such

o brigid o8/9/2017, 7:27:41 PM2 votes

Riot needs to come down harder on toxic behavior. It should never have gotten bad enough that so large a portion of the community thinks it's in any way acceptable to behave this way.

FearlessCreator8/9/2017, 8:08:46 PM2 votes

This is an obvious lie unless you are flaming them back. Playing on a bronze smurf atm and people arent even that toxic here unless someone is flaming them.

To be fair, no game is without its excessive amounts of mentally unstable monkeys. Dota is like that too, from what my friend told me. Maybe global servers aren't as good of an idea as they had thought. "Blyat" "Bastardos" "Okama" "Numbnuts" "Wanker."

Global servers brings new ways to insult people.

report and hope you succeed in aiding the cleaning of the cesspool lol became due to toxicity

Welcome to League and welcome to Riot condoning the behavior of trolls... Riot is complete shit with handling player conduct. They don't care if trolls act like trolls and they on't care about what is said and not the context it is said in... I think I might actually make a switch to DoTA

Cornerstone18/10/2017, 3:18:18 AM1 votes

They need to escalate the ban levels QUICKLY for levels 1-29 because, as many have said, it is likely they were permabanned or 14 day banned and are creating a new account.

Wait, you mean people DON'T flame you in Dota? CY@ LEAGUE

Were you playing Blind pick or Ranked?

I usually mute the enemy at the start and then I mute whoever is whining from team.

Rainfall8/10/2017, 5:52:25 PM1 votes

at least we flame in english #clapped.

Telephone Booth8/10/2017, 10:08:55 PM1 votes

They did get punished. They don't get away with it all the time. It's usually people who got punished already and are now levelling new accounts that are soon to be punished again because kids are dumb. That's how low levels are. Yeah it sucks. Start muting people and suddenly people stop flaming you. Well... they might flame you, but you won't know it.

Dcrn0XWTYc8/12/2017, 8:46:07 PM1 votes

I know it seems like a bitch option but /mute all, /mute @[champion name here] /mute@[player name here], are options.. you can also mute from the scoreboard. You can also mute their pings if they're being dipshits.

Hope this helps. I've found that /mute all is the best option, because even if you aren't flaming, 2 other people are bound to flame each other and that tilts me sometimes, if only because it pisses me off that A) you can only control one character, SADLY and B] they aren't paying attention to the game or what they're doing, which is seriously what drives me insane. People can swear or call each other %%%s or whatever I don't care. What I care about is people trying to win and paying attention to the game.

S0und168/9/2017, 5:11:15 PM1 votes

I'm sorry about your poor luck. I promise we aren't all like that! If we were, the game would be dead. Hold your head HIGH! and silence them lol

Pryst8/9/2017, 5:23:16 PM1 votes

I just got flamed by everyone on my team other than my jungle when I wasn't even typing all game, my team didn't do well and mid / top were fighting with each other all game, I was playing taric and ended 8/4/5.. all of my kills other than 2 were when my allies were all dead and I ended up getting a kill. turns out that is trolling in league of legends and I got reported by 3/4 people on my team for too many kills on a support troll. then they ask the enemy team to report me for trolling and lied saying I was toxic when I didn't even type. best part is riot uses instant report feedback bots which probably side with the people who reported me for trolling when I'm just silently playing my best trying to help my teamTaric

DoktorKaiser8/9/2017, 7:36:37 PM1 votes

Yeah, as some already mentioned the low levels are full of people who got permabanned so they are now leveling again because RIOT refuses to use the IP banning or smt. Just hold on right there, dont get upset or angry over some pathetic children who will get banned again anyway. Keep leveling and you will get to a point where you won't see that much extreme flame. Of course there is still a lot of flame in league since it is the worst community online, or to be more precise the biggest so there are more idiots to deal with, but it will be a lot less frequent and a lot less extreme. Just hold on and dont give up, the game is super fun and there are tons of nice people here :D

YerroFever8/9/2017, 8:01:23 PM1 votes

Level 1-29 are awful because it's mostly people who are permabanned for toxicity and leveling up again. Once you hit 30, the frequency at which you encounter trolls reduces.

The best way pre-30 is to just play with friends. If you have people you know who play league, play with them. Not only do you get advice on certain items and champs, you lower the number of flamers you encounter because that's 1 less spot on your team that could be a flamer.

ModPrandine8/9/2017, 8:07:43 PM1 votes

Sorry to hear about your experience in Normals. Might I suggest switching to Co-op Vs. AI since that community is generally more friendly than the PvP community is (this coming both from someone who plays primarily co-op vs. ai and from Riot themselves a few years back).

leadfighter8/9/2017, 9:21:41 PM1 votes

leave, run while you can. league is going to suck for you if you come from dota. way more friendlier there.

tribunalisrigged8/9/2017, 10:07:16 PM1 votes

every game mode has its own MMR, been that way since year 1. They removed your ability to see the real MMR about 2 months into year 2. From my experiences as well these "troll" accounts are plenty, if you play only aram for a while you get to know the regulars and how many accounts they have. They are extremely toxic but also know what buzzwords not to say, as to avoid to auto detection. It's rampant.

Oriyoki8/9/2017, 11:01:42 PM1 votes

it is punished.
