Respect in the Game

Some backstory: I've been playing this game on and off for the past 7 years or so, typically a support main, so I've seen the community shift and evolve over this period of time. As a player I always try my best, attempt to be as positive and constructive as possible with my teammates and try to avoid hitting the surrender button unless I don't think the game is win-able. I'm aware that the game's community has often been called into questions over the years, however it seems as though lately its the worst I've ever seen.

Lately I've noticed that people don't seem to treat the game or other players with respect. I see a lot of verbal harassment, intentionally feeding, and just plain up and leaving the game, all of which from members of both teams. With the latter, I understand that some of that might be connection issues, but considering I had 9 consecutive games where someone left mid match (or at the beginning) so either the game is having an issue where players are getting booted, or these people are genuinely just leaving the game. Also when people dc at the beginning and you're stuck in a 4v5 game for the first 15 mins, i would assume that gives any unintentionally dc'd players ample opportunity to rejoin and i rarely see it happen. This, as well as the aforementioned bad sportsmanship makes me think that there is something happening in the player base. For the past week and a half, I have not had a SINGLE game where there was no instance of any of these things.

Because of all this, games seem much less fun now than they were before, and I find myself reporting more and more players for bad behavior, and yet running into them over and over again. This makes me much more inclined to party up with friends rather than potentially meet new, likeminded players. I suppose my question is, will this ever be addressed? Do the reports that I make actually amount to any changes? Also, can the remake rules be altered so people are not being held hostage in a game where the odds are stacked against them? And is there a way to honor more than one person for sportmanlike conduct per match? I know these are a lot of questions but any constructive input would be helpful.

Also i'm fully aware that many of the comments will simply be things like "get good" or "just uninstall". Any such comments will simply be downvoted. I'm not here to meme, i'm here to figure out if there are others like me who are frustrated with this.

I am so tired of that "used to be better" bullshit. No, toxicity wasn't better before. It always was this bad. It is that bad in every competitive game, only difference is how easy it is to access chat and type. And yes, it is being addressed, you even mentioned it yourself, REPORT SYSTEM. Don't like it? Well, it's the best thing that can be done about it. And no, Riot can't hire few hundred people to check reports 8 hours a day. For all reports to be reviewed by people is simply unrealistic.

9 CONSECUTIVE games with afk is an outliner so far out I'm going to have to question its validity. You are telling me you have 9 back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back games with afk??? I guess it could happen if you are the one doing the 9 consecutive afk yourself.
