I am openly gay and someone asked in my game if I was (dont know why), so I was honest and twice they called me f*g in a derogatory way (if there is another way to say it) and I am 99.9% sure they won't be punished because this is Riot Games.

UPDATE: So, I got a notification about a person I recently reported being banned. I am actually really stunned because this has happend to me before and the person has never been punished, so yea.

If he spelled %%% twice correctly without replacing any letters with a special case letter or using dot/spaces he should be punished by the chat filter.

How do you know they won't be punished? There are many cases of racial slurs being punished, one example being this case here. Just because you didn't receive a notification doesn't mean that they went unpunished.

If no one reported them in the post game screen you may be right. If someone did report, high chance they will be.

Always report ignorance like that as hate speech and explain to RIOT in the comments what they said and where. Also remind RIOT about their so called zero tolerance policy because there have been times when they forget they have one. I have reported players for hate speech in the past, mostly those racists that use the "n" word like it's normal everyday English when in fact those people are the most ignorant of all and have no idea how offensive they are, and then I see them in later games because RIOT didn't understand zero tolerance. I have also seen on these boards those that have been reported for hate speech and were given only suspensions. That is not the definition of zero tolerance and why you should remind RIOT about that policy they say they uphold.

"Zero Tolerance" gets thrown around, but the system isn't actually a true zero tolerance. 2-week suspensions are generally the first tier for hate speech, and it can take a couple uses of those words/phrases to hit the punishment threshold.

If it were a true "Zero Tolerance" system, the first punishment for a single use would go straight to perma.

Personally, I'm not sure I would continue supporting League if it went that extreme. I don't use those words outside very specific circumstances (usually discussing the history of slurs or books written when they were considered normal speech). However, there are still pockets where such language is commonly used, and I think there has to be some leeway to give players from those pockets a chance to realize it's not appropriate in a game played internationally.

I was told "kys" in an ARAM once, the day before the ranked season ended. I submitted the report (I also screenshotted it and submitted it to Riot directly as a ticket).

3 days later I got the notification that my report worked and a summoner had been punished.

I just checked again (almost 2 weeks later now) - and that summoner has no games played since that notification. I suppose it's possible he got off with a 14 day ban instead of a permanent ban ("kys" is supposed to be an instant perma) but I doubt it. It seems like the report worked and he has been permanently banned.

The system seems to work - just sometimes it does take time.
