I love League of Legends. I despise the leaverbuster system
quick vent of my hatred for leaverbuster:
i'm someone with a fairly unstable internet connection, a bad computer, and a very hectic home life where i leave games through no fault of my own, with little to no way of improving those circumstances. i would and still always do my best to come back into a game and contribute to my team, but i would get 20 minute leaverbuster after 20 minute leaverbuster for having to disconnect from games on pure happenstance. i havent left games at all for a long time recently, and the other day i got the message that my account afk status was improved, but my internet went out today as i locked in my champion for a ranked game, and i just got a 20 minute leaverbuster because i couldnt restart it and come back before my team did a remake. if i had a better computer, or a better connection, i probably could have made it before they did a remake, but would it make a difference? i have no idea. there's no explained amount you need to do to get punished, you just get punished, and it's not from a human being seeing it that understands your predicament that does it, it's just a bunch spaghetti code that decides your fate. i thought that the status improved message meant that i would stop geting 20 minute timers, so im very confused what it even did, and it's very frustrating to have to wait through those 20 minutes where you cannot type messages to friends, swap roles, open chests, check runes, or do literally ANYTHING or else the timer will completely restart and you lose all your friends because they dont have the patience to wait (again) ,and you dont either, but you have to sit through it because you love playing this game that treats you this badly. this game is really open to a wide variety of players because of its low system requirements and general friendly nature, but it's very punishing for those people too, the toxic environment is something we all need to end up dealing with, but the leaverbuster system is outdated
I understand the necessity of the leaverbuster system as a way to punish people who AFK and ruin others' games, but it really makes a lot of problems worse. i've been the 19/5 ashe that has an afk lee sin and feels hopeless about the game, but i've also been that lee sin who's had his internet disconnect when he was 3/0 and winning the game. punishing that one afk just hurts that one person, though. that ashe doesnt get her lp back, and lee sin just gets punished for wanting to play the game. is there really no way of testifying for yourself when you get a leaverbuster? is there any way for you to see that it was unintentional that we left? don't you see the "you have been disconnected from the server. please restart your client" text box being put onto everyone's screen when they disconnect from loading? doesnt the game save somewhere that we DIDNT click the "leave game" button? it makes sense that the system is the way it is to prevent abuse, but when it's of no control to the players that afk and just want to climb or have fun but cant, what do they do? quit the game?
if my questions/complaints have been answered somewhere else, or are plain dumb, im sorry for the waste of time i put into this. i am considering leaving this game because of how unfairly it treats myself as a player when im so committed to it, and i just want some kind of developer response. if you read the whole thing, congrats on bearing through it and thank you.
