Why do people take ARAM so seriously?

Hey guys, I'm honestly not a huge LoL player. I don't have all the champs, and I only know how to play around 10-12 of them. I really don't care for ranked and it even took 3 years before I finally hit level 30! (happened this year ^-^).

Mostly, whenever I play, it's ARAM. ARAM is quick, instant action, casual, and nobody should care too much how you perform.

So why are so many players flipping out over ARAM? It's not Ranked for a reason! It's a great game-mode that let's you try different champs randomly and have constant action without the stress a Ranked game induces.

I'm posting this today because I've become dispirited by how some people treat new/inexperienced players.

  1. I can't play a new champ without someone flipping out. (Instead, you could give me a few tips? I'd be honored if I received some.)
  2. I can't buy anything from the shop without someone flipping out. (I will follow the recommended items, but I like to experiment with all the possibilities too!)
  3. **I can't have fun **without someone flipping out.

Before you start bashing on me: I understand trash-talking is part of the game; I enjoy it too. It's part of that competitive spirit we all have. But this isn't trash-talk. It's legitimate abuse. Sure, this type of stuff occurs in several games. I just find it happening in this game the most severely and frequently. Yes bots are an option. But it really isn't the same as playing against actual players.

I'm just asking for all you LoL veteran's out there to take a moment. Remember the fact that this is a game and games are made to have fun. At least keep ARAM that way for players like me --- players who aren't really as knowledgeable of League as you are but still want to enjoy the same game.

For those of you who read this, thank you.

Edit: The title is kind of misleading now that I think about it. What I mean by it is "why do people hate/rage so much in a casual game mode?"

There tend to be two groups of people playing aram. There are those who play it just as a casual break from SR, and those who take it more seriously.

But as others have mentioned, it's probably actually the casual group who are causing more issues for you than the serious group. I mean, they're taking a break from SR for a reason. And those frustrations could easily carry onto the murderbridge as well.

Those of us who tend to have a lot more time invested into aram might be playing more to win than just to have fun, however, I feel like there's usually a bit more relaxed of an atmosphere even among these people. The best thing you could do when you have a champ you don't know is to be transparent with the team.

During champ select, if you have something you're new to or that you know you're not comfortable with, say so! You might find somebody willing to offer a trade with you (maybe you have one of their favorite/main champs). On champs that have multiple viable build routes, ask the team which they think you should go. If they don't answer, just pick whatever you think the team needs, or what you're most comfortable with. These all show that you're at least interested in doing your best to win. People tend to be more patient with others when they know that to be the case.

Of course you're still going to run into some some people who are intolerant no matter what you do. But hopefully these things would help reduce the issues you're seeing. Also, you stand to learn a lot by asking those questions when do you find people who are willing to help out.

Because people play ARAM when they tilt, and those competitive behaviors in ranked carry on into ARAM.

Me personally, I prefer ARAM to Rift. I decline Rift games often in favor of ARAM. It is more fun for me. I love the fast paced team fights and no worries about CS or wards. As to the folks you mention, I now mute them in game, report their Abusive/unsportsmanlike conduct and move on. Lose no sleep over the scum, they are not worth the time. Talking with them never produces a favorable outcome and there is no point in it as it ruins your fun. Mute them and be done with it. In the end less typing equals more fighting...

I don't get why anyone thinks playing a game in LoL to lose is fun.

Haha yeah, I hate when the other team is just completely destroying you with pokes. But not much you can do about that, am I right?

"Yeah, I only play ARAM when I'm hella mad. Aram untilts me cause I can get kills without worrying about warding, csing etc..."

More reasons why I like to play ARAM - you don't worry about anything besides killing the other champs ^ u ^. I guess that makes sense as to why some players on ARAM are instantly raging at anything and everything though. :/

Nobody likes losing in anything. I'm not saying losing is fun. I hate losing too. But we should at least lose with class and not hate on everyone about it. Just give the other team a "GG" or don't say anything. Simple.
