Someone flames the shit outta someone, BMing all game long, cussing, calling them profanities and other slurs, and if the other player does ANYTHING but sit there and take it for 45+ minutes and send out a report that will get lost anyway, they get a permanent ban...
If you got a permanent ban for counterflaming, you've had a 14-day ban prior (unless you used hate speech, in which case a 25-game restriction would probably be the lowest tier of punishment for a permaban.)
You don't get a permaban without warning, with shield bans, account share bans, and chargeback bans being general exceptions.
Besides - you don't have to take it. If someone's flaming you, mute them.

Your money was no longer yours at the time you gave it to Riot. In case it needs to be said; you willingly give Riot Games your money in a non-refundable transaction, knowing that, if Riot deems it necessary or worthwhile, they can and will revoke access to your account.

Those "few things" seem to be against the rules, if it warrants a punishment. If you can't be bothered to adhere to the rules, Riot can't be bothered to have you in their game.
Why the fuck does this game even have a chat if you get reported and perma banned for saying anything above what a child would consider profanity. They have fucking language filters for a reason, but yet if you say one cuss word, you have a really fucking high chance of getting banned if someone reports you.
First, let's address the reason for chat. People who get punished for chat-related offenses often ask "why even have chat if you can get punished for using it?" What these people often don't realize is that "using" the chat and "misusing" the chat aren't mutually exclusive, and that they were, in fact, misusing the chat.
The reason for the chat is to communicate with other players - whether strategy, idle chatter, encouragement, etc. It is not there, however, for you to flame, harass, belittle, or insult others, and doing those things can and will result in punishment.
Next, the profanity issue. You are, on basically every account here, wrong. Riot has stated several times that you can say any fuck-damned shitty-ass cuss word you fucking want. The IFS will not punish you for cursing.
However, if you level those curses at another player (examples; "you are fucking trash" "shittiest Trundle I've ever seen", "quit being such a bitch and engage"), then you will get punished - not for swearing, but for insulting and harassing other players.
Nothing since then has happened that remotely would instigate a report...
I sincerely doubt that. You very likely had a history of negativity, well after that 14-day ban that prevented your account from regaining any good standing. It is possible to deescalate in the punishment system, and, while I haven't heard of anything about it, I'm willing to wager that, like Honor Progress, being flagged without being punished can hinder your progress down the ladder.
Again, though, I'm not 100% sure, so don't quote me on it.

First of all, if they were trying to tilt you...Clearly, they won. It's basic internet knowledge that you don't feed the troll.
Second, this plays into what I said earlier about profanity; cursing is fine. Cursing at players is not.

Maybe. But, there's also a reasonable doubt that you're being entirely truthful. You haven't provided chat logs, and, in general, your antagonistic, spiteful tone generally suggests that you aren't exactly the best at reining in your anger.
but apparently all you cucks on this forum are looking to make yourself feel better by pointing out what the banned person did wrong instead of trying to see from their point of view or maybe find out what the situation was. This game doesn't include the enemy's point of view for some ungodly reason, which I guarantee would get countless people unbanned because everyone would see how fucking stupid the reason for the ban was.

The IFS doesn't provide (or look at) another player's chat when determining whether or not you broke the rules, because the only person who can control what you say or how you act is you. You alone are held accountable for your behavior.
And, no. I've never seen someone get unbanned for counterflaming a flamer or flaming a troll, and I don't imagine that would change at all, considering that it's been that way since the Tribunal days - when other players' chat was actually shown. It was always disregarded, because nobody wants to deal with flamers - and even less people want to deal with two of them.

"GG EZ" is considered negative and unsportsmanlike, though it doesn't merit a punishment on its own. Nobody gets banned for "GG EZ" on its own. The rest of your chat is more than likely the problem.
No other video game that I've played in my life time is this fucking braindead about reports and bans that they literally sit there and get a word filter to perma ban anyone that says something on there.
The only times keywords are used, as far as I know, are cases of hate speech or encouragements of self-harm. Everything else, the IFS uses a neural network system to parse through the chat logs and determine whether or not someone's being negative, flaming, or otherwise breaking the rules.
There's a lot more to the system than you know.
Literally would save hundreds, if not thousands of account being banned for dumb fucking reasons like this.
So, changing out a handful of filtered words (which the list would be fairly short) would somehow spare accounts from being punished for flaming? I have a good reason to doubt that.
