Re: Free name changes for being reported?

I always hear "Thanks for the free name change" when inappropriate name reports are threatened so I'm guessing it's true since I've been in game after game with the same or similar names.

Deep Terror Nami (NA) - 20 minutes ago If someone keeps choosing inappropriate names they can get banned.

So would that be an IP ban or do those absolutely never occur? If you haven't noticed by now by some of the ludicrous report notes I'm sure you're getting, some players are shitlessly giving toxic and trolled games out like candy. Fine you banned the same guy with a different name. Sure your gaming community will get better.

Thanks for sending me the usual "I don't want to deal with this right now" message.

Riot has stated that they have a strong aversion to instate IP bans.

However, I would be 100% sure that they will tag IP addresses to link accounts who exhibit similar behavior, and will escalate punishment at an accelerated as a result.

Burden of the beast.

As you said, the fact that the game is free to play and the only requirement to create an account is to have a distinct valid email address, which are also free to create, allows players to get around bans.

They definitely have the option of making account creation more difficult including making the game pay to play, but this would also turn away many positive community members and dissuade new players from joining.

Personally, I think they are fine with the path they have chosen.

While parts of the community are extremely toxic, I believe that the number of positive experiences genuinely outweigh the negatives.

The Losada Ratio says that a single negative experience bares about the same emotional weight as three positive experiences.

Try to remember that there the toxic, loud, obnoxious, ignorant, immature, and so on, ... are actually the minority, despite how much it may not seem that way.

IP bans are easy to get around by messing around with DNS and proxys.

It also risk banning internet cafes, school campus, libraries and other public spaces.

Since .006% get permabanned, it is hard to imagine repeat permaban people being much more than that. It's an issue, but not as much of an issue as you are making it out to be.

Basically all I've heard is that there is no way or intent of making any attempts on bettering LoL's community, besides of course, what's already being implemented.
