Do support tickets help punish negative players?

Has anyone at Riot confirmed this? I always see "report them and submit a ticket with screenshots" and such an I have done that a few times in the past when the offending player is far beyond toxic but I have no idea if these tickets and screenshots help because Riot can't give us feedback on if the player is punished. Do these tickets just waste Riot's time or do they actually help prove a player is guilt and lead to punishment?

The best way to get the player punished appropriately is through the in-game report feature. The system is very good at punishing players who deserve it. If you reported in game, submitting a ticket won't really do much other than waste their time because the IFS handles over 99% of chat bans from my understanding.

If the player is trolling/intentional feeding, it can help, but is not necessary, to both write comments in the ingame report as well as to submit a support ticket.

Regardless, if you think you need to submit a ticket to ensure your report is heard, please do. I'm pretty sure Riot will never get mad at you for helping to remove toxic players from the game.

I send tickets if I forget to report, or if it's something really unpleasant in pre-game and someone dodges. Or if I suspect boosting/cheating.

One can neither prove or disprove it works since Riot can not inform us of a punishment that is given through it. Which is why reporting after game is slightly better because at least there is a chance of seeing a feedback report and knowing something happened.
