Leaving in a ranked match suggestion

Hi, long time viewer first time poster, im Yuf. I dont know if this will gain traction but i did have a suggestion. I am currently in bronze 4 about to play promos for bronze 3 and honestly im a little nervous. Personally i feel like i have a somewhat decent understanding of the game as I have been playing for 3 years now. I wasn't big into ranking the previous years i did try it and honestly the negative energy in the matches made me so upset because i was having fun so i win some lose some whatever. This year has been a slow climb as ive stepped back into ranked learning my champions more, (because you can never fully master a champion but you can be really good with them, everyone is still learning their mains) So the big problem that I have come across is people leaving, Yes the toxic comments and everything is bad but thats what they give you the mute option for. Though with people starting a match but then saying oh i have to go to work or school or something else, I totally understand people have lives i work and have a life myself but i feel like why would you join a match if you know you have to be somewhere in 10-15 minutes? Yes i know most of you guys are gonna be like get good carry 4v5 well that to me is juvenile. a 4v5 definitely hinders your team in lower elos and especially because its a second by second game meaning everything in the match can change in a second. Anyways ill wrap this up so i dont rant too long, but i feel as if there should be a system in place that if someone from your team leaves then you only lose half the Lp you would, or by chance you win, they lose Lp for leaving. I dont know if thats fair or whatever i just wanted to post my feelings because it has been a struggle to try and get a pretty boarder and honestly thats all im playing ranked for. lux main outLux

Hi Yuf,

First of all ignore anyone who says 'get good just carry 4v5'. No one worth listening to is going to say that lol. The only reason a system like what you're mentioning hasn't been implemented is because of the potential for abuse. If you duo with someone, and you're sure you're gonna lose, one member of the duo could leave to save the other LP. Even if it wasn't a duo, the effect would be the same: one member of the team could leave to save the LP of the others. This would result over time in a HUGE difference between someone's MMR and their tier/division.

It is pretty obnoxious when someone has to leave, granted. However, I think you'll find that if we're being honest with ourselves, most of our losses are due to one team playing better than the other team, not from a player leaving. Granted, in low bronze it might be the case it happens more often. Even so, though, in low bronze there is huge room for improvement and if you can exceed the skill level of your team by enough, you can win a larger percentage of the games that are 5v5, and climb out despite any potential leavers.

I am going to suggest something that may or may not help you a tiny bit depending on rather or not your already doing this.

You stated the following

"it has been a struggle to try and get a pretty boarder and honestly thats all im playing ranked for."

And that's fine. There is nothing wrong with that by its self, But It would most likely benefit you if you changed your mindset a little. Your main motivation to play LoL should be, to try to learn and improve yourself as a player. the prizes you get at the end are all fine and all but if your main focus is just on the prizes, that might create a problem for you. cause when you say "that is all im playing ranked for" it kind of makes me feel you are not looking at your mistakes and finding ways to improve yourself as a player. and that often involves getting beat up hard in lane and taking the time to review the replay of the situation to see if you can find where your mistakes are. Yes you do learn the best from failures. but you also have to take the time to review the failures to learn from them, even if its slightly unpleasant to re-watch the situation.

The AFKs are annoying, They obviously create problems, but they are ultimately not the reason you don't have the boarder you want.
